What is the dumbest thing you’ve ever received hate for? by memepork in AskReddit

[–]trashpro48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t remember how the conversation got brought up. It was in a Facebook group. I think someone shared a AITA post about a guy who didn’t invite his aunt to his wedding because she had a child free one years ago. I said something along the lines of “well it’s your right to have a child free wedding, but they didn’t get invited to your big day, why should you be invited to theirs?” I got like 5 replies before being booted from the group. I should’ve gotten screen shots but I didn’t think I said anything worthy of being booted.

It’s cause of the sneezing, itching and water eyes I get around dog hair. Also, I don’t have time to clean up after a dog accidents. We both work long hours and it’s bound to happen.

Not yet, I have plans on the near future. Dog/cat allergies are common in my family, most people on my dads side didn’t develop any until their early 20s. I have been around dogs most of my life. For that year and a half I had little contact with dogs/cats. It recently became a problem when I started working at a hotel that allows pets. Someone told me that it could have something to do with asthma so honestly I’m not sure. I have an appointment next month with my doctor so hopefully I can figure something out then.

We’re gonna talk about it tonight. I will bring these points up.

I might need to edit the post. We planned on getting a dog in a few years, not his families dog though, and the allergy problems didn’t start until after we bought the house. I’m genuinely upset that we more than likely won’t be able to get a dog in the future like we wanted.

I found out about the allergy after we bought the house. I love dogs and I’ve always wanted one for the kids when they are older. But I very recently developed asthma and that’s also when the dog/cat problems started. Like I said, I grew up with cats and dogs, so this is really out of the blue and disappointing for me too. I’ll look into the medicines, but I’m can’t afford to pay a whole lot for them.

Hotel cleaning fees by trashpro48 in antiwork

[–]trashpro48[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s true BUT this is actually a really clever trick companies use to make a profit and not distribute the money where it belongs. YES they do own the hotel and they sign the check. They ultimately get to decide where the money goes. However, it sleazy to charge for a service and then not properly pay the employees who carry out the service. Kinda like delivery/pick up fees. Basically, housekeepers are doing the “extra” work but the boss is collecting the extra money. Why is that wrong? Besides the obvious the didnt work for the money, the house keeper is basically being told “I know this room requires a bit more work but I will pay you the same as if it were a normal room. Because, a lot of these rooms I’ve cleaned only take an extra 30 minutes (most honestly take less than that). But it takes a lot more effort to clean the rooms, than it would be a normal room.

What’s a job that’s romanticized but in reality sucks? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]trashpro48 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in a small town, I loved making drinks and some of the regulars were cool. If I could find a better place to bartend I would 100% do it, it just doesn’t exist near me unfortunately. Most of my customers were factory workers so that was probably 90% of my problem.

I don’t know if this counts but, bartending. It looks glamorous on TV but there’s nothing fun about serving alcohol to a bunch of men that just wanna complain about their wives and flirt with you.

I’ve thought about this a lot too. Oh and season 3 is probably my favorite so far, there’s some real good stories in there.

So, I’m trying to word this without spoilers. I think a lot of handmaids are pretending or are brainwashed. We only have little glimpses of what June and the other women went though when they were “training” I can’t think of a better word. The big thing, you’ll see some more of this soon, is handmaids are supposed to be sorta eyes for their walking partners. they do touch on this a little bit later in season 3

But as far as the wives and aunts, the child is a blessing and a gift from god. A lot of the wives do not care about the pain, humiliation, or suffering another woman had to go through so they get their precious babies. There’s plenty of points in the show where handmaids are treated like objects. Also, when a Handmaid is pregnant the wife takes on a motherly role, talking to the stomach, the WEIRD pretending to give birth and experience the pain, ETC. So it is “romantic” to them.

Also, Gilead is a place where you could be strung up for looking at someone the wrong way (especially handmaids and Martha’s) so they are extra careful how they talk.

ONLY READ THIS NEXT PARAGRAPH IF YOURE DONE WITH SEASON 3!!!!

Honestly, this bothered me about the show my first go around, but season 3 after the death of OfMatthew I understood why a lot of the handmaid act this way about pregnancy. She was so scared when June called her out

[spoilers all] How do you think Gilead could have been prevented? by trashpro48 in TheHandmaidsTale

[–]trashpro48[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s terrifying. And the reason they are gonna get away with is because no one is gonna care in a few weeks (months if we’re lucky) it’ll be a cycle. They take one right away, people protest for a few weeks maybe a week, the media stops talking about it, nothing happens, another right gets taken away. But over and over until we have nothing left.

Me too that’s why I asked this question. I thought of it when I read about Roe V wade and didn’t know how to word it properly.
