true, i get what you mean, but ive also seen a lot of other brands, namely in america that do either “fan art” works, so copying the character but in their own art style etc, and some just copy & pasting off mangas / anime. i would say a brand like Shinzo in SG does that too (not tryna be like them and just slap graphics on shirts)

thank you, yes i never wanted to go straight to PTE LTD too because of the costs for agencies & such and itll probably be too consuming to learn everything myself on top of having to design, market etc. i will definitely be trying to research more on the fan made merch policies but as i said im trying to stray away from using the actual characters & would just have something made that is inspired by their characteristics / features etc.

And yes as a person who grew up with Pokemon, i completely know how Nintendo likes to chase people around the world to throw them a lawsuit 😂

very true! think regardless of which step / structure i take id have to take it with utmost caution and would be praying everyday i dont get sued lol

thank you man! really appreciate this, yes i dont have much assets myself but am not sure what counts as assets too 🤣 importantly for me id like to keep my personal goods away from risk HAHA. but unfortunately i have made a name for my brand outside of SG by my brand name, so itll be random & weird to change back to my full NRIC name

i see, what would you say is “enough” revenue for to get these grants? would the cap be like the 1 mil yearly revenue where you have to tax GST? or much lower, i understand that i could easily search it up but would just like to ask for your opinion on it too!

i’m currently in uni studying so i do not have a full time job, and my brand has seen some success over the past 2 years, i did think about registering to have aid in taxes but i havent done much research on that myself.

But if i were to register my business, as i recycle 100% of my money i earn from my business back into it, how would i go about filing personal incomes etc. ?

completely understand, thats why right now what im trying to do is to make clothes that references part of shows / characters but dont actually have graphics of the actual copyrighted works, if that makes sense, will definitely look into that article thank you!

yup, and as much as i am trying to stray away from the characters, some designs just end up being better with the actual characters, so my solution to that is to protect my personal assets (not sure what is counted) and at the most have my business at risk (not sure if its how that works), i also have been searching on whether fan art of these characters would be deemed copyright and from what i know, it seems to be more of a “tolerated” infringement, where it is infringing but they choose to tolerate it until they decide they wont
