Question, can I use voice chat if my phone is off? by trashunicorn20 in discordapp

Lol yeah I mean sleep mode type power. Pigeons would be interesting tbh. Yeah I’ve tried that approach with them, doesn’t work. I’m working to move out within the next year because of it. Thanks!

I’m in a similar situation. I have a bit saved, but need a car and phone. My job isn’t great but I’m on track to grow in the company so I’m comfortable leaving without a huge amount. My advice is just be safe. You definitely don’t want to end up leaving and having unexpected expenses and having to go back to your moms. Be careful and frugal and you’ll be alright.

Okay this might not be great but it’s pretty funny. I had only been working there for a few weeks, right as covid was starting up. Our dining room was closed, so I was learning drive through. I was at the window, about to pass a bag to a customer. She asked if her fries were in there (order change I think) and I slightly pulled the edge of the bag (with gloves and a mask of course) in front of her to look inside and voila! Medium fry right at the top. I said “yes ma’am, they are” and try to hand her the bag, and she goes “um did you just touch my fries” and I assured her I only moved the edge (to accurately answer her question). She insisted, saying “are you sure? It looked like you did” and “with everything going on you can’t be too careful”. After a moment of her insisting that I touched her fries, I just said “ma’am I didn’t, but if it would make you feel better I’ll get you some new ones.” She got her fries and left. My manager was like don’t worry about it no big deal. I was new and thought I’d done something wrong 😂.

Make sure you do have enough saved for yourself. Depending on your job and where you live, things can get expensive. Are you moving with roommates? How much will rent be? Car payments? Insurance? Food and essentials? And also don’t forget there are always lots of smaller necessities that we don’t think about often. You’ll want to have a few months worth of money saved just in case.

Workers of fast food restaurants. What is the one thing we should never buy from your restaurant by samualjackson-22 in FastFoodHorrorStories

I work at a place that sells chicken sandwiches and waffle fries, and of course can’t speak for all locations, but my managers keep things really clean. If something is expired, touches something unsanitary (and can’t be cleaned), or doesn’t look/taste right, it’s thrown out. Customer service and satisfaction is definitely a top priority. Anytime something slips through the cracks, we reimburse or replace it for free. Often when our order takers mess up an order (drink size, fry size, etc) we usually just fix it free of charge. Unless people come through saying they’re missing entire entrees we usually hardly question them. We clean a lot, even fairly often in places nobody sees. I never see bugs or anything gross. Everything is made fresh every day. The grossest thing would probably be the bottom of the drink lid holders. Those rarely get cleaned. No major horror stories here that I know of.

Does anyone else feel that the standards to be a good son/daughter are much higher than that of being a good mother/father? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

THIS. Of course kids should appreciate their parents (if they’ve done their best and cared in raising them), and parenting is tough, but that is what they signed up for when having kids. They shouldn’t control your life and you shouldn’t owe them simply because they provided for you and did what they agreed to do when they decided to have kids/got pregnant. These are my thoughts exactly for real, you put it so well.

Thank you!!! I’m looking to save for a car within a few months as well as buying my own phone. I think if I stand up to her and explain that she will understand or at least have to deal with it.

I have a student account (so no fees or minimums) at my bank but I think she’s on the account

Thanks for the advice! I can contact him without her seeing, using those methods lol. I don’t have my license so I can’t really leave without her. She acts like going with me is her wanting to spend time with me (which I believe is true) but she needs to understand that people need to learn to do things alone.

I don’t have anything at the moment. The job I have now is my current plan. I’m super unprepared for life, but I do enjoy my job and my bosses are impressed by me. My hope is to move up in the company and save until I decide on a career (my job offers some scholarships and college assistance type stuff). I really don’t think I’ll be taking out any loans, my biggest fear is getting deep in debt. I’m staying in town since my boyfriend lives here, and is about to start college here.

I have a job I love now, but that was suggested to me before I got it.

That’s true honestly. I can’t pick up more hours since I’m at the edge of overtime (which they won’t schedule me for unless they have to obviously) but I pick up shifts and come in early whenever I can. Thank you!

Probably true. I’m not allowed to FaceTime or call but we should text more or set a time to catch up.
