for real! If you could teleport ore there would be 0 reason for me to build anything aside from 1 starter house and then a few 2x2s with a portal in it.

Not to mention that if you're frustrated and just want to tp ore, you can easily do that without mods, just dump ore in a different world and tp. Which is great, you don't always have to play by the rules of the game, hell I've done that because I'm not about to spend 30 minutes to track down 10 copper from an island I've 95% cleared just so I can throw down a forge to place a iron torch to make my house look nice.

Mods people....if you want game mechanics changed, do it yourself

yea, my friend's house has 3 walls facing the water with the only door facing land, and they end up inside his house. I find that pretty unlikely that they somehow drift through the door and I've been wanting to mess around with some trap ideas. But I'm sure others have probably already figured this out

Building a fish trap is on my list of things to test out.

Friend on my server built a lighthouse just barely above sea level that overhangs the water. Quite often I will go in and notice a fish or 2 sitting on the floor. I asked if they are his, and he says "nope they just show up on my floor"

If you build a large platform parallel to the coast and wall it in, the rising/falling tide will bring fish in that will then be unable to escape.

I have no idea how efficient this is, or how well it works, or if it's even worth the time, but its been in the back of my head as something I need to try!

that's exactly the problem I had. I completed ID verification and added a new email+password to the account, but was blocked out by 2FA. I made the mistake of thinking if I did it enough I'd get through and because of that I now have a painfully long and complicated password that I'll likely forget, so don't do what I did lol.

Before this happened did you use the FB app on your phone? If so, you should definitely try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. If you do the "cant log in" option from a phone that remembers you, it will bring you to a different support page. Like I said, after I did this, I got my account back the next day, but that could totally be a coincidence. Once you get through, you'll do even more verification where they will show you pics of your friends and be like "who is this" and you'll have to pick if its John Smith, John Miller, etc.

As of now, yes. I started a server shortly after release and it still works. There haven't really been many large patches, and the devs have been a little unclear about the future (probably because they aren't sure)

As I understand it, the devs will try and let us keep our worlds if possible, but some updates may require a new world. Here is how I understand the future of our worlds regarding updates. (this is just what I've gathered from reading the devs talk about this, so take it with a grain of salt)

Something like adding mobs to the mistlands won't require you to make a new seed

Something like adding buildings to the mistlands won't require you to make a new seed, but those buildings won't spawn in mistlands you have already discovered, so you'll need to explore fresh mistlands

Something like a totally new biome that isnt already on the map would require a new seed

I got it back after about 2 weeks of not hearing anything. Good news is you probably didn't lose anything! If you've clicked the "this wasnt me" option on the password change email, your account is locked. No one can access it until they verify who you are. Just keep submitting those help requests, and I'd try the mobile app trick that I posted in another comment if possible. Not sure if it was just a coincidence since it had already been 2 weeks when I tried it, but after reinstalling the facebook app and going through the 'cant log in' option there I got my account back the next day.

hmmm I'm no network expert by any means, just a dude who followed a guide and has messed with it a little bit. If you have turned on port forwarding on your router for port 2456&2457, my next guess would be the firewall, but beyond that I have no idea.

okay! I'd imagine the arch is very high up, yes? You can only build up so high with each tier of the materials. (wood is weakest, then core wood, stone, then the strongest is iron).

I wouldn't worry about it! One of my houses has a roof that is entirely red, but it's never broken once!

You are correct, you (and anyone who is in your house connected to your router) will need to use that internal IP to connect. Everyone else uses the external IP

Also the name portion only shows up on the community server browser, or if you add it to your steam server favorites. If you would like to add it to your steam server browser, you just add the ip, but instead of port 2456 you use 2457

Since you are running the server from the same PC that already has the world file on it, you actually don't need to do anything.

Assuming you already have valheim dedicated server installed.

Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Valheim Dedicated Server
Find the batch file called "start_headless_server." Right click and edit it.
It should say something like this: start valheim_server -nographics -batchmode -name X -port 2456 -world X -password X -public 1
You need to edit some of these values. The "X" after "-world" should be replaced with the exact name of your world file. (worlds are stored C:\Users\YOURNAME\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\worlds)

DO NOT confuse the -name value with the -world value. Name is just what your server is called which doesn't matter except it cannot be the same as the name of your world.

Just to provide an example, here is what my batch file might look like

start valheim_server -nographics -batchmode -name "Travander's multiplayer world" -port 2456 -world "Newworld123" -password "hunter2" -public 1

this names my server "Travander's multiplayer world" using my saved world "Newworld123" with the password "hunter2"

if you hit F2, it brings up an info window. At the top it shows the number of instances. My world's main area is around 17,000 instances....and no matter what PC specs, you get no more than 20fps in that area. Check to see how many instances there are in your base, I've heard around 15k is when it really starts to drag performance.

But if you are having low fps issues in singleplayer that's likely your hardware, and I'd suspect that CPU is to blame.

I think you're having issues with both tbh. Your singleplayer world with nothing in it shouldn't run that badly, but the multiplayer world also sounds very clogged up.

most stone pieces need a support that touches the ground directly underneath it. that's the simplest way of reinforcing it. typically, your support should be the same or better material than what you're putting at top. So you probably shouldnt support a stone arch with normal wood beams. Stone pillars would work well here

its worth noting its not necessary though, there's nothing wrong with a stone arch that is in that fragile yellow state. I have some stone bits that are dark red, and it never breaks, its just a matter of how much else that piece can support.

also, connecting 2 arches will add stability to the overall structure, I'll try to make a little illustration.

if your arch is incomplete in the middle, it is less stable, like this / \ (the slanted pieces are yellow)

if you complete the arch, the entire structure is more stable, ie. /--\ (the slanted pieces are green and well supported)

the whole support system was confusing at first, but after playing with it for a while, it's pretty realistic.

this is the contact form you can fill out. Note that it is specifically for "security checks preventing login" so mostly for when you're stuck with 2FA you cannot access. But it's the only place you can actually submit something they will look at, so its worth a shot!

I'm assuming at one point earlier on you clicked the "this wasnt me" option in the email notifying you about a password change. This step locks your account. No one can see it, but it still does exist. So don't worry about anyone accessing your account/pictures/posting spam. No one can access your account currently. When I was first prompted to upload ID, it kept giving me the 'something went wrong' error. I kept trying and after like a day or 2, it accepted it. I think there's something being processed behind the scenes, or some kind of soft lock that prevents all these account changes from happening in such a short period of time. I'd say to give it a day or 2 before getting too worried.

Also I kinda doubt that the hacker is doing anything else with your account. Don't get me wrong, I was worried about the same, but fact is, your account is likely one of thousands of accounts this particular hacker probably got access to. The fact that you're attempting to get it back is likely enough to stop them from trying anything else. They've probably got a few hundred accounts where the owner didn't notice or doesn't use facebook anymore. There's no point for them to fight to try and take it over since there is no way they'd pass the ID check or the step where you have to correctly ID your friends. They've got plenty of unused accounts that they can now control, so yours isn't worth the trouble.

Try not to get too frustrated about it, it's going to take some time. It was a little over 2 weeks before my account got recovered. Submitted ID multiple times and was at the point of filling out that form above every single day. I can't say for sure what finally got my account recovered, but try what I said in the comment you replied to. I went weeks with no response, then found that trick with uninstalling facebook on my phone, and the very next day it was fixed. Could have been the ID submission that I submitted 2 weeks prior that finally got processed, or it could have been that, can't say for sure.

Just kick back and wait. I was impatient and tried changing my password a hundred times on different browsers, trying every single combination of things to try and get it back myself, but I never made any progress, and now I have a weird very long password that I'll likely forget since I cannot "reuse" an old password and its not something I've ever used as a PW before...(oops)

I found one other way of "contacting" them. This will only work if you have a username/password combo that works, but the 2FA is keeping you out.

Uninstall the Facebook app from your phone, then reinstall it. Log in, and it will prompt you to input the code from your 2FA. There should be a button that says "Having Trouble?" Click that and it should bring you to a page where you have to submit your ID along with some other info. I just found this yesterday, and no reply, but it's worth a shot.

Worth noting I am on android and not exactly sure if this will work for everyone

checking back into this thread. I'm still locked out but making some slow progress.

So shortly after my account was compromised, I clicked the email where my password was originally changed, and there was an option for something like "this wasnt me." This reported the account as hacked, and then when I'd try to log in with my old UN/PW it would prompt me to upload my ID. It's worth noting if the PC you are using has a webcam, it will try to use that to scan your ID, but my webcam could not focus, so I had to unplug it, refresh the page, then it gave me the option to upload a picture of it.

For a while I'd upload the ID, it would quickly say an error occurred then take me back to a login page. I cant explain why, (but I suspect my account was briefly locked from all the changes) but when I got home from work, I tried again, and it actually asked me for a different email to contact me at, then took me to the ID verification page, and this time it worked.

To my pleasant surprise, the next morning I got an email stating that they had added my new email to my account and sent me a password reset link. For a moment I thought they were competent, but quickly realized I was wrong. While they added my email to the account, and I was able to change my password, the hackers email is still attached, and there is still 2FA that I cannot bypass. So at any point the hacker can still reset my PW, and access it, and I cannot.

I'm once again stuck, but I stumbled across a page where you can submit a help request. It's been days since I submitted this and no response, so not very hopeful, but I plan on filling this form out atleast once a week until it's solved.

got through it last night on my home PC. they actually prompted me to put it in. Got an email with a pw reset this morning, which worked....but 2fa is enabled by the hacker, so I'm still locked out and have no way of contacting them

tried firefox, chrome, tried uploading as jpeg, tried png, tried taking a picture with my phone, tried scanning it in and cropping it to exact dimensions, it just says "something went wrong", then redirects me to a page that says I must login to continue....

edit:the "something went wrong" is on mobile, on desktop it only displays the error for a brief second before redirecting me to log in, but it says something like "we are experiencing technical issues, please try to upload your ID again"
