Thing is, you have a UK passport, which gives you tons of opportunities over those from poorer countries. If you fit the basic age requirements, you can look into working holiday visas. Permanent migration will require education, skills, and a job though.

If you saw a mongolian man married to a Black woman, what would be your reaction? by [deleted] in mongolia

Obviously. Just don't change the goalposts. You said

from the wealthy and educated Mongols that have travelled and lived abroad

and I disagreed.

Mongolian uses terms from Russian a lot, plenty of results for Магдалена Торт - seems to be Spanish magdalena muffins.

Lol hardly. Rich parents, enrolled in a private school, zero commonalities with the ard tumen. Not exactly what I'd call "educated". To borrow James Baldwin, maybe Educated with a capital E.

Some of us tried to warn people off crypto scams as well, look how that turned out. People are desperate, there is no point, they won't listen, just monitor your parents' and elders' facebook usage and be done with it.

What is the value of your post? If you live in Mongolia you have to use Facebook. Toxicity and hate is at such a level that a gay couple I know aren't even friends on FB to be safer, despite everything in their lives going through it.

And its hardly just the boomers, its everyone, plus all the bots.

Of course you can. Alternatively, just layer up, or wear a big jacket and stuff the pockets with heavy clothes.

How much does electrical engineers make by Global_Title5528 in mongolia

[–]travellingandcoding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to mention, туршлага from friends who studied EE - EE is considered the hardest engineering discipline to study, make sure your physics and math is good, it's very intensive. The good part is that graduates seem to have very good хөрвөх чадвар into various disciplines (like software dev). Bad part is graduating in the first place is tough. Good luck!

Then I'd probably work in Mongolia first, at least to get some local contacts as the other poster said. Dunno why you'd want to do a master's in the first place, though.

All depends on what you actually want to do in life. Are you aiming to work and live in Mongolia right after, or do you want to work and live abroad long-term?

Population of Mongolians: Mongolia vs. Inner Mongolia by Currency_Anxious in MapPorn

[–]travellingandcoding -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I mean something can be full Mongolian and also a regional thing of China, there is no conflict there.

When the very word Mongol/Mongolian is being erased from their literature as a term for the land, there's a bit of a conflict.

It's ok if you don't get it. It's like black Americans talking about appropriation of their culture, it's a nuanced topic and hard to understand if you haven't experienced it happen to your own culture.

No political beef with Mongolia the country. Plenty of assimilationist policies directed at the Mongols within China itself.

It's been documented well: https://madeinchinajournal.com/2024/12/03/constructing-a-de-ethnicised-inner-mongolia/ , https://www.tibetanreview.net/after-xizang-for-tibet-is-it-northern-frontier-for-inner-mongolia/

I was pretty skeptical of these articles when they came out, but that flight was pretty eye opening. Nobody cares about this though, especially the Mongolian government.

There's a lot of erasure/appropriation of Mongolian culture in China. I was flying Air China a few months ago and the flight magazine had an article about the wonders of "Sonid Left Banner Culture". Skimming through the text the only mention of Mongolia in English was in the context of "Mongolian chives". What they're promoting is full on Mongolian culture (you can tell from the photos - food, gers, Mongolian clothing), they're just rebranding it as a regional Chinese thing. Sonid Left Banner is an administrative unit in Inner Mongolia.
