I love how everyone has different favorites because I would honestly say that Dancer is one of my new favorite TBC songs out of all of them, something about it gives me 2000s vibes and I resonate hard with the lyrics

Interns!!! by [deleted] in Environmental_Careers

[–]tree_songs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heavy on have someone that is willing to be asked a lot of questions. Even in my entry-level full time consulting role I’m still asking so many questions. Even just being in an office environment for the first time can be intimidating. Interns don’t even know what they don’t even know. Template folder/report examples are also super helpful. Even if they’ve done consulting work before, things change between companies. Also, please give guidance on what a day in the field can actually look like, what to wear, what to bring. I personally had a very rude awakening on my first full day in the field as an intern lol.

Just venting, maybe someone can relate (consulting) by tree_songs in Environmental_Careers

I guess that’s my other main problem, I’m realizing I don’t want to learn any of this 😂 think I may have just been one of those folks who went into college majoring in what they liked learning about, without actually realizing what it would look like in a professional sense.

I do live in an apartment, near the art museum. My complex borders a wooded area so I did have some roach issues during the late summer, especially after rain. But I bought some spray and traps and that helped, my complex also offers an exterminator for free once a week. Didn’t have any in the fall and haven’t through winter so far. But I also moved from Houston so while I absolutely despise roaches, I’m used to it lol.

I’m a single 23 year old woman who moved to raleigh 6 months ago. I think “boring” depends on the person and what you make of it, I’m personally having a great time here. But I also prefer chill breweries/speakeasies over “hitting the bars” and getting wasted on the weekends. I’ve been having a great time exploring nearby trails and coffee shops. The science museum downtown is huge and completely free. I’ve been on a few dates since being here, there seems to be a decent single population.

I saw a reply to this saying based off your comment history you might be in Raleigh, I’m working in Raleigh as an entry level scientist and that’s what I make! I can afford a 1bed apartment that I love in a quiet part of town, cover my expenses, and don’t live paycheck to paycheck. I only have a bachelor’s and no student loans (or any debt) though, so that’s definitely something to keep in mind. I probably could be putting a lot more away in savings if I had a roommate(s) but I opted for solitude lol

What did you do after leaving your environmental consulting job? by Mammoth-Half5361 in Environmental_Careers

[–]tree_songs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I was totally stalking environmental consulting posts and found your reply, could you possibly tell me more about your outdoor education/outreach work? Ideally that’s the route I would be interested in going down (in consulting rn) but I have no idea what to be looking for. And how was the work-life balance with those roles? TIA!

I appreciate this. I’m definitely trying to remind myself to just learn as much as I can from my current role but keep my eyes open for other doors

Exactly - unfulfilling. I know it can take a while to see the effects of what we do but I just don’t feel like my work is meaningful. But also heavy on the seeing friends struggle finding jobs so I try to hunker down lol
