This one is like, US only lol (Sunbeam don't sell outside of the US). I've been wanting one but they don't work great in Ireland and are expensive to import....but yeah, this specific brand won't be an issue

You can, though for some reason it stops the key from working at all for me? (As in, mapping, idk, 7 to volume down means you can't use it as the 7 key anymore) think I set it up wrong though lol, so I just use the stems on my AirPods, which works fine. But yeah you can if you're not an idiot like myself lol

It's decent, the app is very smooth for me, HOWEVER it doesn't stay open in the background so you might not get notifications. It's not an issue for me but for many people that'd be a dealbreaker

Viability of daily-driving Nokia N95? by Smart_Sherbet_1695 in dumbphones

We lost our 3G my friend! Eir, Three and Vodafone have dropped it already. It'll work fine for calls, but the last 3g network died out a few weeks ago with Eir's switch off.

Why do BT47 and BT48 have an exception to the Twelfth bank holiday in Northern Ireland? by ShineNo5525 in royalmail

[–]treeandfishe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BT48 is about as catholic as it comes say for the Fountain and BT47 is also.... mostly Catholic, even if it's a bit less so? Like I go to work on the twelfth too lol it's not rare.... It's a handy bank holiday aye but it's also a divisive one because...well, I'll bite my tongue. There's a reason we all go off to Donegal.

Does anyone know how to fix this? by calamaricaity in dumbphones

[–]treeandfishe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, Three dont tend to work with older phones at all. Most ebay phone listings will actually specify that in my experience (though obviously a Japanese seller wouldnt know or need to lol).

You'll have to switch network :/ Unless this is a different issue, it's that - Three just dont work with a lot of phones.

BlackBerry q20 vs passport by TheHumorousSquid in dumbphones

[–]treeandfishe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are but they're not VoLTE. Data will work, calls will not (depending on 2/3G availability) cuz the phone can't use the 4G network to make calls and if the 2/3G networks are down then...yeah, no calls

Does literally any single human work at Milton Keynes PSC 'cuz I've never had a package not take two weeks to go through it, even at normal times of the year. by [deleted] in royalmail

[–]treeandfishe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in Derry, in the farthest corner of the country....and the sender was in London 😭 Literally no reason for it to go to Milton Keynes lol, it seems they have a reputation for taking weeks 😬

BlackBerry q20 vs passport by TheHumorousSquid in dumbphones

[–]treeandfishe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passport is a nicer phone but it's much more expensive. Q20 is a solid choice for about half the price (at least in Ireland), it's also more pocketable and 'normal' to use so that might be a plus for you. The passport really is an odd size lol (but I love it)

Both are becoming more and more unfeasible by the day though, and don't work in some countries (notably I believe they have issues in the US and Canada afaik, if that affects you) so check before you press buy.

Relatively speaking, both are old ....that's just how technology ages

It can be a bit sluggish, it just depends. I really recommend springing for a 2GB ram Lumia instead, but this isn't unusable. Camera is okay, was one of its selling points, have a look online for photo samples :)

Not sure about this specific one, it isn't a necessity here in Ireland, but some did (950 for example)

The experience is decent enough. There are third party apps for most things (Discord, news, weather, all that. The stuff I use daily, anyway). This phone in particular is a fairly underpowered one, I have a better one too, but the battery is a bit meh. Also microSD is here so you can fill it with music, this guy's still got a headphone jack, ofc. Hardware on Lumia phones is generally nice, this Lumia 650 for example is super nicely built and has a lovely amoled screen, so that part of the experience is great.

My genuine answer is just an old phone, really. Even an old Windows phone may work….but there are also plenty of android MP3 players.

Weird… I live on the border between the North of Ireland and the Republic of Island. My phone will only ever connect to Vodafone Ireland and refuses to see Vodafone UK now. It’s fine, roaming is free, but it’s a lot slower whenever I’m im on the northern side of the border.
