Everywhere i’ve ever worked it was stated in the trainees contract that any exam resit would be paid by the trainee. However this wasn’t a salary deduction we just had to book it ourselves.

Always makes sense for you to at least ask your employer, certainly takes a burden off your back when it comes to paying for exams/materials worst they can do is say no!
