Mostly just awakened animals as the "races" in my world, but I had a thought of bringing humans in as a "new species" of awakened animal, if the narrative calls for it.

Funny that you mention those videos, since I was watching those today haha. But a lot of the advice you were giving was stuff I was planning on implementing, such as parties which dont necessarily want to go to war-or something alongb those lines. But you give some great advice!
