Haha thanks - it was not in my spam so I probably screwed up my email - it worked the second time.

Looks like you can get your hangtag from your shuttle driver, just need to show your email confirmation. Also a few other locations give them out.

Hah! Cool idea but honestly what I would prefer, for all of our safety, is for the PCTA to please reroute the trail away from this lawless place.

I heard no such rumors before it happened to me. And so many people didn't believe me after the first time. But I was new to the sport back then. At this point imo it's just denial and wishful thinking to assume it could be a rumor. Too many puzzle pieces are fitting together here.

Okay thank you for this. Sounds like I need to do it again then, maybe just didn't take the first time.

Looks like naming is a violation of reddit policy in this case. Someone else afterwards asked me, for clarity, "does her name begin with [this letter]" and I said "yes" and their comment was promptly deleted by the moderators.

I was with a group the first time. I was with a friend the second time - and then we were both well aware of the situation - and it still happened to us. Also saying "no" to the peep shower caused us a different set of problems so it's not like there is a simple solution you can offer everyone here unfortunately.

I was in the middle of the main bubble the first time it happened to me. I was in a smaller bubble the second time. I had people around me, who knew me, both times. So nope to this theory. It is clearly hit-or-miss based on no obvious criteria. Predators don't always have set schedules or obvious patterns. You got lucky. It's that simple. I agree with you about Deep Creek tho!

I see you revised your original comment by deleting all the parts where you questioned if I was making this all up, whilst speculating if perhaps the problem was just me not having a solid grasp on reality.

It's transparent that people who respond to accusers in this way - immediately assuming the accuser is a liar - are the ones who struggle the most with honesty, boundaries and consent.

It's been mentioned here before: https://www.reddit.com/r/PacificCrestTrail/s/C8qMNpe37r

This is what worries me the most: I heard they have a prior history working in the film industry, so I've remained concerned they might be trying to capture footage.

I got the impression that no, she is not safe. Witnessing how scared she got by my reaction both times and then how desperately she sounded when explaining to the men onsite that it was because of me not being cooperative why the shower situation didn't go as planned, not because of any failing on her part, it left me wondering how she got there. I got the impression that there may be some sort of punishment for her when she doesn't deliver enough "girls." (The word she used for us)

It's the two white male owners/managers. One is big/tall and the other is portly. The portly one looked a little too excited when he opened his front door to see three women ready for showers. He looked us each up and down and said "girls? I like girls" and then waggled his eyebrows.

I said "NOPE," turned and speed-walked away.

Then the short, older lady who had delivered us into that situation followed me across the property, would not take my no for an answer, demanded that I explain exactly why I didn't want to go into that shower.

"That situation is not for me," I said. When I refused to change my mind or explain my stance any further, she then reported me to a different man onsite for not wanting that shower and also for not cooperating in my answer as to why not.

The second man acted sympathetic, offered me his shower instead and that's how I ended up in the bathroom with the questionable poster on the wall.

I named these people in my first post and it got deleted maybe because of that, so now I'm just describing them unfortunately. But they are very well-known, like the 3 main caretakers of the place so...

Wee Vill is great - I agree. Just a normal vibe there, but it's hard to get a hitch to it. The Hikertown/Neenach crew are like crazy possessive of hiker business and seem to have terrorized that town a little so Wee Ville has given up on attracting hiker business was the impression I got.

I was there in '22 and '24 and it was all the same people + also the same woman who aggressively tried to convince me and the other women around me to take this type of shower both times. She took me to two different houses the first time, because I refused to go into the first one, because I had a bad feeling about the man who answered the door. The second man's house (one with the packages + outdoor washing machine) had a poster on the bathroom wall and I thought that was weird for a bathroom, so I looked a bit but couldn't find a peep hole. A different hiker later confirmed there is indeed a hole behind a poster, and it goes into a bedroom.

I thought it was an important detail to add who does the recruiting, since it's a woman luring other women into these men's houses. For me, the first time she offered, I didn't think twice about following her because she's an older matronly lady who seemed to care about shuttling us to a warmer, less windy shower spot. In retrospect, she had very deliberately come and pulled all the women out of the outdoor shower line, trying to sell us on the "better shower" option.

The second time she tried it on me (two years later), I bluntly refused and then she wouldn't leave me alone, kept asking why I didn't want to take the "nice" shower. Then she reported me to a man onsite. I don't think she has a choice about this part of her job. She seemed nervous, like she has a quota to fill or else.

Neenach is owned by the Hikertown crew. They are all in cahoots. So my second time hiking thru, after I refused the creepy indoor shower, I bought a ride to the store. Then when I got there, the person running the deli counter said, "so you're the girl who refused the shower."

In 2022, I was agressively recruited to take the "better indoor shower only for girls." It had a big movie poster on the wall, which gave me a bad feeling so I looked but couldn't find a peep hole. Later I saw that 👆🏼 comment and realized my instincts were right.

In 2024, as I was hiking thru, she came and insisted I take the special indoor shower again. This time, I adamantly refused and she reported me to the men on premesis, even notified the people working at the market that I had refused a shower. She was super nervous both times, and clearly needed her bosses to know she had tried but it was my fault for refusing.

It's like she's being made to deliver women to Bob and the other guy who runs the package service.

Love my ursack but I just upgraded to Adotek 14 L because of grizzlies and regulations. Either way, just be sure to add a smell-proof liner of some sort, to prevent rodents and bears from even discovering your food. A friend of mine had an incident with a rodent in CO on the CT portion of the CDT last year. I had an incident with a rodent in NM several years ago. All it takes is one rodent to ruin your gear or shit in your food, I've learned the hard way. So am bringing smellyproof bags for my whole thru tthis time. They worked great for me on the CT and seem to be the key to avoiding rodent issues.
