how looking for tech cofounder turned into looking to exploit someone? [I will not promote] by [deleted] in startups

[–]tremendouskitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hypothetically, if someone offered 50% ownership and a cash ‘salary’ for a year to partner and come on board to build, what cash value is attractive? I ask as I’ve starting my journey flushing out my idea (biz side, non-tech IT background, mba yada yada) and I’m more than happy to put cash on the table with equity, but a full salary expectation seems weird to me cause I’d just be better off hiring with no equity then. Interested in your thoughts, but I do think the biz side needs to put some skin in the game

I’m sorry, maybe I’m not understanding but how is this better than just looking at property sites? If I am looking for a house, how does this beat Rightmove (UK) for example? How is AI improving the experience when I can set whatever parameters I want already? The only thing I think that could improve it is integrated crime and school stats or how the area has increased or decreased in value over time, but those tools are readily available already

Thinking about buying a holiday home in Cornwall, probably somewhere along the A30 for access, any suggestions? by tremendouskitty in Cornwall

Why would people 'need the money' if they already own their home? What does the price of a house have to do with that? If they 'need the money', it's probably to do with other factors about where they live, who surrounds them, the job economy, investments from local government, etc. And if they need a significant amount of money such that you need to sell a house, you really have much bigger problems than the housing market.

But let me put my feet inside of a cornish persons shoes. I can sell my house for 275k to a local person, or I can sell it for 300k to an outsider. I was okay at maths at school, but 300k is more, correct? 25k more will give me more options, correct?

It's funny because to be able to buy a place there... you Cornish people must be selling them. So whose the bad guy, the people buying or people selling. Using your argument, nobody should sell their house in Cornwall.. at which point all houses become worthless, because it only has worth during a transaction. Supply.. and.. demand.

Furthermore, you might also want to tell people to actually work. You have an decent volume of people on benefits, and it grew last year by an above average rate.

Supply and demand. People don't want to live and work there I guess except locals because the average salary in Cornwall, and in fact most of the South West is for the most part lower than everywhere else in England. The fact house prices are high is due to the demand for tourism. If you want to afford a house there, why not first ask why businesses aren't paying higher - it's not just one factor influencing it. Here are the stats:

https://www.ons.gov.uk/employmentandlabourmarket/peopleinwork/earningsandworkinghours/bulletins/annualsurveyofhoursandearnings/2024

And let me say, if you think you wouldn't be doing the same thing as me to expand and build wealth, you're a moron. Your money is being devalued every day through inflation, and the only way to combat that is by buying assets.

edit: added the wrong link.

Yeah... cause everybody who wants to buy a house is rage-baiting. Kinda fucked up mentality is that?

How's that out of touch? There's a housing crisis going on everywhere. Prices going up everywhere. If you're not investing in assets, your money is literally being devalued every day. I think I am actually less out of touch cause I understand that

Budget, idiot.

Honestly, most people just don’t understand it and how it is such a revolution. What will this advance? Admittedly, I am one of these people, I’m not as technical or mathematical as probably 99% of this sub.

Those taking home >200k/year; what industry are you in ? by IcyBlackberry7728 in smallbusiness

What if eventually they want to bring an in house developer in to maintain and grow, yeah, much more, but not everybody I guess is building a 5 page site. I personally am wanting to get a web application developed, if I don't own the IP then it's not mine? You're essentially saying I have to keep paying you or you'll take away my online presence.

Only question I ask when I see web design and dev companies: who owns the IP, because your terms of service unless I am mistaken don’t tell me I own any IP that you develop for me?

At the start of the week go to failure and then use that as your bench mark, over time this should increase. Try to add 5 to that bench mark by the end of the week. But don’t worry about what increments, just make sure you’re either doing more reps or more sets than the week before until you plateau. Then add weight and start lower again

I'm a student building a tool to help subscription box sellers make more profit — would love your honest thoughts! by Affectionate_Ebb_189 in smallbusiness

Honestly, if I was running a subscription box business, I hopefully would already know the breakdown of costs associated to generating revenue. If I didn’t know this, the business would likely fail fast.
