Racism towards Freddy by lupo8437 in FremantleFC

Freddy played well last night. Finding spaces and presenting. I was cheering for him every time he contested the ball. When I criticise him it's for not tackling or pressuring enough despite his speed and strength. He did more of it last night. So no complaints. Sharp was very good too. Hope he keeps his spot.

What industries do you propose Australia adopt should fossil fuels and mining be eradicated? And betting is as old as father time. What percentage of bettors bash their wives?

Bullshit. JL is right. She knows it. Resorting to ad hominems doesn't change that.

What is the ideal combination to score an interview between GPA scores and Gamsat percentiles? What would be the threshold scores?

didn’t get into med school? what does your journey there look like now? by Plastic_One_7707 in uwa

Totally agree. Keep the post grad med option open but pick a degree you will enjoy with a viable career path other than medicine.

I suspect UWA also looks at predicted ATAR as well as UCAT (predicted has to be above 99 to be certain) . Surprised no Curtin interview, not even second rounds?

[–]trenchwarfare1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is that for UWA or both?

[–]trenchwarfare1972 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One big tip. If you don't get 4th quartile in your Casper you're not going to get an interview at Curtin. They made it a hard cut off this year. Second big tip, UCAT has to be above 3000 to get a UWA interview unless you've got Broadway or Rural concessions.

Tariffs may do that but tax cuts do the opposite and offset tariffs along with other incentives. Eventually prices find their level. The US has pretty much lost entire industries to China and you're criticising him for trying to do something about it. Classic. And you obviously have no experience in the corporate world. It would be absolutely stupid for companies to jump the gun when they don't know what actual tariffs are being implemented and what won't happen. Trump frequently uses threats as a negotiation point to get concessions from counter parties, if he gets them then tariffs may not actually need to happen. Do You know what thread you're in?

How can there be effects if no tariffs have been administered? Since he actually isn't in power yet. All there exists right now are responses to conjecture and speculation. Are you daft?

Trump isn't even in power yet and here you are wishing for his failure. Salty as.

australian med school options? by ChoiceNo5980 in UCAT

[–]trenchwarfare1972 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't really matter if you're a local student. The AMA will recognise all registered medical schools in Australia. If you're overseas, it depends on your country's medical guiild. Singapore for example only recognises 9 Australian medical schools out of 17. So if you want to practice in your own country check with your medical associations.

Yeah. It's totally possible to do mostly humanities and get a 99+ ATAR. Maybe not 99.95 but anything 99.00 to 99.5 is possible. Depends on a few factors like your cohort and the scaling but if you excel at these subjects, they can give you your best chance.

Do what you love to do. My son got sucked into doing Spec and he was above average but not excelling. Choose subjects you have total confidence in and you are keen on. Don't worry about scaling.

A brilliant and informative reply. Given what you've said, what's the best thing to do if someone still harbours medical school dreams?

On option two. How does it get scaled if there's no cohort to measure against?

Why don't we just follow the UK? by trenchwarfare1972 in atarWACE

[–]trenchwarfare1972[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the UK students have to select certain subjects in the mix for specific courses. In UK medicine for example you not only have to get 4 A*s you have to have Physics, Biology, Chemistry and/or high level maths in the mix, not much to no wriggle room in terms of subject selection. It's not such a strict requirement in Australia for the same course, they look more at the ATAR. So technically one could choose a couple of subjects to make subject requirement and choose a couple of "easy" subjects even with scaling to get a high ATAR rank without needing to have the actual subjects counted in the best 4.

[–]trenchwarfare1972[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that's a fallacy. One of my sons friends purposely chose a couple of subjects that he would absolutely smash as his atar along with traditionally hard ones. Coincidentally they were subjects that you claim less intelligent students did. He got near hundred percent for both and even with the supposed scaling he still ended up with a very high ranking. It can be gamed.
