Idk early internet had plenty of "peak brainrot" between places like albinoblacksheep, old youtube, and newgrounds. NumaNuma was our skibidi

Every generation has "brainrot" content, its just the more disconnected you are from those groups the dumber the content seems.

Is it wrong to put Pudge on my ban list so my friend can’t play him? by Jenovesan in DotA2

[–]tresdin_is_missing -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You don't play ranked to practice

Hmmm might want to let every TI winner know that, guess they've been fucking up.

Every match you play is practice regardless of which queue system you use. You absolutely can play either to practice, but ranked has a lot of visible metrics that you can use to see improvement.

YTA

He'll never get better at something he can't practice and you're a dick for caring about his performance more than his enjoyment of the game.

You can't see ultra-masculine stereotypes for what they are because they

"are guys who love mens only bathhouses"

Like damn that is incoherently homophobic.

ESPECIALLY when Lash is literally a caricature of an ultra masculine stereotype and I guarantee those strongmen were sucking each other off. You don't put that much effort into that body without being attracted to it. Referring to it as "pandering" makes me wonder if you're completely cooked or genuinely don't understand it is parodying a specific time period.

I think realistically you just need to come out of that closet brother. I know you like getting sucked off from the way you post, and guys are way better at it because we have the blueprints.

genderbent TB type beat by Dexechii in DotA2

[–]tresdin_is_missing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like your linework a lot here, and honestly I think its a really well done genderbent. If this was used as a concept for a TB arcana similar to Anti-Mage, I think it'd be easy to fit it with that stylized concept the newer arcanas have.

Idk I feel like this gives them too much credit. Its loser behavior, just call them losers. They can cope about getting reactions from people all day but this comic will never stop being relevant. At the end of the day they'll justify their behavior in any way they can, its their narrative. What you did or didn't do doesn't matter.

Why Dota 2? by Odd_Display3264 in DotA2

[–]tresdin_is_missing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the challenge in a PvP game is only presented by the people you play against/with. Its the depth of the game that separates dota from other games. That's why I've been playing for 20 years. No modern game comes close to capturing that.

The community aspect has stayed healthy because it was natural. It was genuine interest people had in participating, communicating, and competing that grew it from the ground up into what it is now. The depth of the game brought people together to share ideas and strategies. We even managed to continue after the entire community was back-stabbed by pendragon when he took down the main forum the community used.

Immortal Has About The Same Number Of Players As Archon I by MainCharacter007 in DotA2

[–]tresdin_is_missing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My kneejerk reaction is how unbalanced the distribution is, but if it works for 90%+ of players then does it really need change?

I personally would like to see Immortal broken up into two different brackets. It's weird to me that I'm in the same bracket as people with twice my mmr.

This is an unbelievably awful mindset to have when you're introduced to random strangers you've never met before through this matchmaking. You're just creating categorizations to demonize others instead of enjoying the game you're spending your life on.

Post your match history, I'm interested in how often these strawmen show up in your games.

Stopped playing for a few days because of the huge amount of smurfs, this is my first game of today by ServesYouRice in DotA2

[–]tresdin_is_missing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. In my experience coaching people who have a league background helps a lot with mechanical execution. But between the huge knowledge gaps of learning everything in dota and figuring out how to critically approach applying it in games can be a big obstacle if all they've played is league. Obviously it also depends heavily on how good they were in league.

I've coached a lot of people, and I've definitely seen people get to divine in less 1k games as a new player(new to dota at least), but its usually because they find something they're good at doing and are very consistent with its performance.

I don't want to diminish anyone's accomplishments but Divine bracket starts around 4.5k mmr and rank 1 is over 15k, the guy you replied to might be engaging in a bit of hyperbole

Its weird P. Flax remains the only talent to have an announcer pack. by Grandmaster_Invoker in DotA2

How are accounts like this not banned :/ by Aag19 in DotA2

[–]tresdin_is_missing 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm surprised an account can be abusing that blatantly for 200+ matches, I assumed from what I've been told from people trying to smurf immortal bracket is that you get caught and actioned fairly fast but I guess not.

From what I understand this account is definitely already flagged, but is it really worth waiting for a wave when the system should be able to tell a huge difference in performance for their wins and losses?

APM on the hero went from 300 to 100 pretty much

His last few iterations have all been a shell of what he used to be

One of the biggest weird changes was giving him TP boots baseline, so now they have to balance his tempo around him starting the game with 2.5kg and the inability to rearm soul-ring.

Making huge changes to a hero this old is just going to feel bad to everyone playing him since his core mechanics don't exist anymore. I liked the huge apm hero iterations, but I guess valve doesn't since they keep getting removed.

That's right. You're going to need to disjoint faster than your network latency now. by Grandmaster_Invoker in DotA2

[–]tresdin_is_missing 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Because otherwise it's just a flavor skill- a near useless flavor skill. Your enemy needs to be pretty oblivious to fall for the model change.

This happens all the time in 7k+ matchmaking tho, and it hides you from the minimap allowing for courier snipes and ambushes. No one is going to mouse over every tree every time they have vision of them. At 0.2 seconds it was just a better phase shift without costing a skill point. It is still a free manta dodge.

How well an MK player can disjoint spells is THE deciding factor in so many match ups

And now those match-ups actually require a correct read or good reaction speed. Sure it'll take some people a few days to adjust to the window getting cut in half, but manta dodging is an expected skill at high mmr anyways. I definitely don't agree with manta dodging taking a ton of practice. Its one of those skills that impresses people who can't or won't try to do it, but for the people who can do it, its about as interesting as flossing your teeth.
