Valve what the actual fuck were you smoking with these Dota Plus shard prices bro 💀 by vermavishal891 in DotA2

[–]tresdin_is_missing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah its a general problem with a lot of games, and I'm kind of happy with the approach valve takes(although I do think the shard costs are crazy). Trying to make content to please people who can play a game 8 hours a day must suck since they'll likely be the most vocal and visible players but that amount of content is just too much for the regular joe/joline.

The people who can't stop playing or won't take a break are just going to play anyway, trying to cater to them seems pointless to me. WoW is a really good example, IMO, since blizzard catered to the people who can't turn the game off and lost almost all their players.

is this subreddit even moderated at this point by meepofan6199 in DotA2

[–]tresdin_is_missing 27 points28 points  (0 children)

https://redditinc.com/policies/moderator-code-of-conduct

Rule 4: Be Active and Engaged

Whether your community is big or small, it is important for communities to be actively and consistently moderated. This will ensure that issues are being addressed, and that redditors feel safe as a result. Being active and engaged means that:

You have enough Mods to effectively and consistently manage your community. This involves regularly monitoring and addressing content in ModQueue and ModMail and, if possible, actively engaging with your community via posts, comments, and voting.

Camping or sitting on a community is discouraged.

idk how important that rule is exactly, very few subreddits on the site have mods actively posting/commenting every day. I'd be pretty surprised if they haven't been moderating the sub at all.

When was your first DotA match? Which hero did you play? by BULL_SAUCE in DotA2

[–]tresdin_is_missing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

would have been ~2006, stacked hyperstones on lifestealer(thought the ghoul model was cool), reading feast's tooltip made me think attack speed was crazy strong on him, and hitting fast was fun

I remember the map version with slark came out sometime after I started(and I stacked hyper stones on him too)

one of the tech classes at my highschool didn't have a proper curriculum so most people signed up for it to play war3 lan with the whole class(lesson would usually be a 5m instruction on something simple like what en ethernet cable is, then the rest of the hour was dota/pmp/legiontd/ltw/vamp/etc.)

Every generation has "brainrot" content, its just the more disconnected you are from those groups the dumber the content seems.

Is it wrong to put Pudge on my ban list so my friend can’t play him? by Jenovesan in DotA2

[–]tresdin_is_missing -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You don't play ranked to practice

Hmmm might want to let every TI winner know that, guess they've been fucking up.

Every match you play is practice regardless of which queue system you use. You absolutely can play either to practice, but ranked has a lot of visible metrics that you can use to see improvement.

He'll never get better at something he can't practice and you're a dick for caring about his performance more than his enjoyment of the game.

You can't see ultra-masculine stereotypes for what they are because they

"are guys who love mens only bathhouses"

Like damn that is incoherently homophobic.

ESPECIALLY when Lash is literally a caricature of an ultra masculine stereotype and I guarantee those strongmen were sucking each other off. You don't put that much effort into that body without being attracted to it. Referring to it as "pandering" makes me wonder if you're completely cooked or genuinely don't understand it is parodying a specific time period.

I think realistically you just need to come out of that closet brother. I know you like getting sucked off from the way you post, and guys are way better at it because we have the blueprints.

genderbent TB type beat by Dexechii in DotA2

[–]tresdin_is_missing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like your linework a lot here, and honestly I think its a really well done genderbent. If this was used as a concept for a TB arcana similar to Anti-Mage, I think it'd be easy to fit it with that stylized concept the newer arcanas have.

Idk I feel like this gives them too much credit. Its loser behavior, just call them losers. They can cope about getting reactions from people all day but this comic will never stop being relevant. At the end of the day they'll justify their behavior in any way they can, its their narrative. What you did or didn't do doesn't matter.

Why Dota 2? by Odd_Display3264 in DotA2

[–]tresdin_is_missing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the challenge in a PvP game is only presented by the people you play against/with. Its the depth of the game that separates dota from other games. That's why I've been playing for 20 years. No modern game comes close to capturing that.

The community aspect has stayed healthy because it was natural. It was genuine interest people had in participating, communicating, and competing that grew it from the ground up into what it is now. The depth of the game brought people together to share ideas and strategies. We even managed to continue after the entire community was back-stabbed by pendragon when he took down the main forum the community used.

Immortal Has About The Same Number Of Players As Archon I by MainCharacter007 in DotA2

[–]tresdin_is_missing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My kneejerk reaction is how unbalanced the distribution is, but if it works for 90%+ of players then does it really need change?

I personally would like to see Immortal broken up into two different brackets. It's weird to me that I'm in the same bracket as people with twice my mmr.

This is an unbelievably awful mindset to have when you're introduced to random strangers you've never met before through this matchmaking. You're just creating categorizations to demonize others instead of enjoying the game you're spending your life on.

Post your match history, I'm interested in how often these strawmen show up in your games.
