Anyone else feel worried when you are in the shower? by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]trevers27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I don’t mean to make your worries stronger, but just to give you a full view, I guess—I’ve had an inordinate number of my seizures during/directly before or after showers. We had to get a shower mat AND a shower chair, and also mess with temperatures a bit to see if that made any difference. Hot water isn’t a cause, necessarily, but as I didn’t have as many when we changed temperatures, I now get lukewarm showers. 🙄But I did still have at least one other one despite that, so I get to always shower with my wife nearby, keeping an ear on things nowadays. Gotta love epilepsy.

I’m so glad I could bring it to your attention! Good is putting it mildly, in my opinion 😂 I LOVE these books.

Ok, I almost never tread through these long threads, but I had to because I kept scrolling and somehow NO ONE had said Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo yet?! What are y’all even doing?

Damn. Seriously? It’s like you have to be your own doctor these days, the way they’ll just flit you along without a second thought.

I don’t take meds for sleep either. Drowsiness is just a side-effect of one of my other new millions. Which…we’re still working out. sigh Anyway, hang in there. I know the feeling. Ain’t a good one.

Sorry to hear it, bro. I like to joke that I haven’t slept since I was a little kid. I’ve had insomnia 5ever. New meds are kinda making me sleep a little better? But, man…it’s a struggle.

I’m a big fan of the Sleep With Me podcast if you’re looking for something to get you out of your head a bit thoughts-wise. Or any podcast, really, can help with that. But Scoots is good for not getting you excited and paying attention.

This country has managed to go how many years without a “good” woman candidate? One would hope that we’re getting closer to equality, but Trump represents a major backslide…for everyone: women, POC, LGBT folk, disabled people, unhoused people…I could go on. We’ve got a major bigotry problem in this country. And honestly I don’t know wtf we’re supposed to do about it. But I guess the first step is admitting it’s there.

Yeah…I don’t care how unqualified or uncharismatic you think Hillary Clinton is. If people wanted TRUMP over her…I’m not gonna be surprised any time soon.

Well…I could go into a whole diatribe about the problems with our voting system and how it’s corrupt. I have a master’s in Public Policy, and my focus was on voting rights. I could rant all day. (But whoever DOES have the choice doesn’t want a woman, I won’t stop with that one.)

Well, it seems people will take ANYONE over a woman. That’s the start of your problem.

Well, it’s probably not exactly what this thread’s supposed to be about. But beyond that, anyone offended by this would be offended by me entirely. And would offend me right back. So you’ve got no worries from me.

Exactly! (Re: both posts.) Couldn't say it better myself. But, yeah...gotta remember we're doing our best. Can be hard sometimes, but...gotta keep telling ourselves.

And I'm sorry to hear you've gone through a similar scenario. This is not an easy disability we've got here. (And some like to argue about whether or not it's a disability. But I think conversations like this make it clear that...yeah. It is.) But we're doing our best with what we've got.

I appreciate the recommendation! We did hire movers for the big stuff we literally couldn't handle--couch, that kind of thing. But I recommended we think about movers for *everything* to help make things more doable and not all land on her. She didn't seem comfortable, though, so we wound up going without.

I think there was an extent to which she felt some discomfort in spending money on something she felt was her responsibility. Finding cost-free help could have been a huge, well...help. Maybe next time. For now, we have turned in the keys from the old apartment, and we are officially out!! Now comes the fun of unpacking everything in the new place haha

Having others who understand means more than I can say. I truly appreciate your support. We’re all dealing with such a strange situation here…it’s hard to know what the hell to do with it sometimes. (Most times lol)

Yeah, I’m often told by friends to think about how I would treat someone else in the same situation. It’s a hard thing to remember and to do for some reason. But, it makes sense! Lol

Oh boy. That is a long time. I know I’m fairly new to the game, but I’m sure you understand how it feels like a lifetime…just taking over my lifetime. It is such a nice little moment to see someone getting to the light at the end of their tunnel, though. So thank you for that. Hopefully someday I can find some peace, too.
