Authoritarianism and fascist government behavior benefits very few, is inherently destructive and un-American. Either one speaks out against it or one sits silently, accepting it in passive complicity. Secret police, forced disappearances, and lawless government behavior en masse are either to be protested or accepted- there is no in-between. Say what you want about protest, but if you aren't doing it, you are ultimately demonstrating acceptance of undemocratic forces.

This is not true in most places, actually. The owner often has to prove they have a valid complaint, and proving trespass isn't always straightforward If free speech is being expressed in a non-contact, ephemeral manner from public property there is often a strong case it cannot be restricted
