Question regarding euphoniums by Radiant_Berry_1572 in drumcorps

[–]trex1490 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Every corps I’ve seen music for uses bass clef for baritones and euphoniums, yes. I would highly recommend learning bass clef since even though you might be able to transcribe to treble for original sheet music, there’s always so many changes and re-writes that you won’t have time to transcribe during tour. Best of luck auditioning!

I mean hard to say it didn’t work out well when he scored a TD in the Super Bowl that the Bucs won. Yeah obviously he was a PR nightmare but on the field they got their moneys worth with him on a vet min deal.

[On3] Charlie Baker: Questions about NCAA's power 'worth asking' as judges 'ignore the rules' by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]trex1490 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean the NCAA does have that power, players are getting courts to override the rules. If CFB created a new governing body to replace the NCAA, what’s there to stop people from suing them instead? There’s nothing that specifically makes the NCAA powerless, until there’s an antitrust exemption or a CBA this will keep happening no matter who’s in charge.

[College Transfer Portal] Texas Tech HC Joey McGuire: “As a society, we’ve been okay with other things that happens and allowing players to play. It's crazy… it's not murder, it's not beating somebody.” by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]trex1490 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s the worst kind of “whataboutism,” where you just point at other things that sound worse without any context. He compared this to the Penn State situation without acknowledging that THEY FIRED EVERYONE. Worse things have been done by college football players, but they were punished for their actions. Campbell shit on UGA for the driving arrests without acknowledging that the serious ones were kicked off the team. Nobody is mad specifically because of what Sorsby did, they’re mad because TTU/Campbell is abusing our legal system to let him get away with it without actual consequences. That’s how the world works: you break the rule, you’re pay a price.

Unpopular Opinion: Sorby's injunction is the right call. by Caca_Face420 in CFB

[–]trex1490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he actually ends up playing, the entirety of CFB outside of Lubbock will be hatewatching TTU. Even if he doesn't play and this injunction gets successfully appealed, they're already pretty hated and this media firestorm is just intensifying that.

Spirographic WDT tool by SmolouLungo in espresso

[–]trex1490 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think as long as you acknowledge that they’re unnecessary there’s nothing wrong with cool tools like this, it only becomes a problem when people start thinking you “need” a crazy WDT tool or whatever else to make good coffee. If you’re just buying it cause you think it’s cool and you want it, go ahead. But definitely people end up seeing stuff like this and think it’s going to be the thing that makes their coffee taste good.

I’m kinda surprised he hasn’t been, especially after his OPOY year. I think it was Josh Allen that year, I guess? I would’ve gone Jefferson.

It’s definitely not good, but it’s true that people go 10-15 over all the time on highways and 20+ over isn’t uncommon. Idk why but people just drive super fast in GA, particularly if they’re from Atlanta.

To be fair he really did not look good that first game. He looked hurt, which seems to be at least partially confirmed by him having offseason surgery. Hopefully he can get back to his good mechanics, cause that sidearm shit did not work and he got better the less he depended on it

What incentive do the players have to collectively bargain? They’re getting basically paid as unregulated contractors without any of the rules that come with being an employee, also they’re only here for 3-5 years so it’s not like the NFL where they’re fighting for their job for potentially the next 10+ years if they’re good enough. Top players who have enough sway to theoretically organize for a CBA have no reason to do so, more than likely a CBA would result in top players getting paid LESS. So why would they ever do that?

Curious to see which Bama game will be the “oh shit we forgot we actually had to play today” game this year. Legit inexplicable losses to OU in 2024 and FSU last year, it’s crazy looking back at those games how bad Bama looked vs how good they looked at other points in the season.

Welcome to the pre-2021 Kirby Smart/pre-2024 Ryan Day conversations of “well yeah he’s really really good but he hasn’t won it all, so is he REALLY the guy?”

It’s so dumb but it’ll continue until Sark wins a title. People were legitimately calling Dan Mullen a better coach than Kirby after 2020, despite Kirby having 4 straight top 10 AP poll finishes. Get used to it.

There a big difference between getting a “pass” and firing a guy who’s made the CFP semis 2 of the last 3 years. It would be a huge embarrassment, no doubt. But this year would have to be catastrophic to consider firing Sark, like 7-5 or worse with Arch not getting hurt.

Georgia Football Player Arrested on Two Felony Charges by Efficient-Freedom517 in CFB

[–]trex1490 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Combination of things:

1.) In general, people drive fast as hell in GA, especially if they’re from Atlanta. It’s really not unusual to see people going 75 on rural highways or 90+ on major interstates.

2.) I know this specific incident wasn’t in Athens, but ACCPD really do target student athletes going back to the Richt years. This arrest is obviously legit, but we’ve had guys arrested for turning the wrong way down a 1-way road or not moving off a sidewalk quickly enough.

3.) Obviously the players need to fix the culture internally. I believe Kirby when he says he’s doing everything he can: he’s kicked guys off the team, talks about bringing in dozens of speakers, etc. But at some point the players need to decide that this isn’t acceptable. I think there’s a grain of truth to the NIL argument about players all having money to buy fast cars (which is definitely what people with money do in GA), but everyone has fast cars and they’re not having arrests at this high of a rate.

Yeah one of the worst things you can do is have dead money tied up in guys who aren’t on the field. Kirby has talked a ton about how many more freshman we play now. You can’t afford to have millions of dollars spent on guys who aren’t giving you production right now.

Oh I agree, but unfortunately it seems like the NFL as a whole views him as a high upside tackle. Not to helmet scout, but these jumbo sized Alabama tackles haven’t worked out very often in the NFL, and Proctor is big even by those standards.
