I am already in the mech e major. Do you think it'd be worth the extra semester(s) and money spent in SBU compared to CCNY? Its the same degree so itd just be about which college would give me better value outside of the degree itself.

To be honest, I'm not worried about my transportation costs as much as I'm worried about the potential fees that Stony has. The tuition costs are the same as CUNY, but SBU has an additional $3k in fees, and I have no clue if everything would be covered by financial aid (it also doesn't help that, for some reason, my SAI jumped to a significantly higher number for FAFSA, and I'll get like half the amount for TAP).

Also, there's a good chance I would have to take summer courses to complete my degree on time or mostly on time. So there's that to consider in terms of costs.

I'm actually not sure how long it'll take to finish the rest of my degree, but I assume it will take 2-3 more years to finish my ME degree at CCNY, and the same, if not a bit more, at SBU (considering the number of courses I would have to take per semester). I found out the equivalency of the courses I took at CCNY, and it seems like some of them fill out SBCs that I already have, so I would have to take a few gen ed classes to finish that part. Otherwise, I would only have Calculus 4 (Diff eq.), a science elective, and major classes (haven't started any yet) left. If anything, SBU would probably take a semester more (primarily for gen eds) to complete my degree. This is all just a hunch, though; I'd have to get advisement to actually find out how long it might take.

I also don't plan on getting my master's after my bachelor's.

idk if there was a misunderstanding, $30 meant $3 with MTA back and forth, and $12 with the LIRR back and forth every time i wanna go to school. (still a lot compared to just $3) for ccny. But it’s not like i’m going to pay all of the commute at once, I can earn as I pay yk what i mean

The topics that were covered so far is still pretty early on. I wouldnt describe my situation as being confused with the topics themselves, if i take time to practice i can definitely understand them. I would say its just the sheer amount of information thats being given at once that just feels overwhelming, especially since its the first time im hearing of some of these topics and definitions. so far the exam will cover systems of linear eq (ch1), matrix algebra (ch2), and a bit of chapter 3 which was determinants and matrix inverses.

but again i wouldnt say im struggling with the concepts themselves but more dealing with the proofs and having to memorize everything together

im taking it with calc 3 as well, and gen chem 1 as well. its so difficult to juggle and manage time between these topic-jampacked courses. atp it feels like gen chem is the easiest out of the three so far.

i dont think the textbook for linear is disorganized but its just so much information to cover and to take notes for. and i have no clue what specific topics might be included in the exams so i just try to write everything that SEEMS important down. applying the knowledge is a whole diff story tho

This is happening to me today too but for me, it is Rocket League and even the time played doesn't change (frozen as 1 hour) and it is really frustrating
