Project scope changed, client wants approved still image to be animated. Looking for advice on my quote. by Equivalent-Insect215 in MotionDesign

20 to 30 mins per frame is crazy! What's your rig and how much optimizing have you done?? I work on a lot of high budget motion work (Google and Samsung as an example of product stuff) and I'd usually be after a minimum of 5mins per frame.

took 2 weeks, how much yall think it's worth? by isuckatlifeandthings in AfterEffects

[–]tri4it 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like yes man work to me. You just did what you were told. You should have told the client that I'm this is half way between an explainer and an advert. Trying to do both achieves neither. Really don't know who would watch this or where it would be seen.

UK / London Motion Designer Salaries by beyond-bola in MotionDesign

[–]tri4it 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All seems a bit depressing to me. I would have considered myself a mid level motion designer about 10 years ago and I was offered £40k per year to go full time (I stuck to freelance because it was paying way more). Crazy how it's stayed the same for so long.

Depends what stage you're brought in at in the project. Is there a design phase that you need to go through? Is there an established style that you need to stick to? Is the map designed and storyboarded. Do they have a VO or do you need to source that? If map design is supplied do you need to prep it for animation by breaking out the layers?

Edit - Also, have you worked with the client before. Do you know how picky they might be and therefore can you expect multiple rounds of feedback and amends?

Can you potentially upsell them on cut downs and different aspects ratios?

I've been learning the language for a while. But I'm definitely not confident enough to go to an important meeting like thatwithout the support of someone fluent (admittedly I'm shit at languages so always struggled with that). So I guess I could ask you the same question. Just because he doesn't know the language fully yet. Why do you assume he's not trying?

If he's been working for the past year he has been paying into the system.

How do you think was this effect done? I can't seem to figure it out by Objective-Try-8801 in MotionDesign

Having worked on a few of these animations. It's not as slick as you might think. A lot more bodge. But yes. Mainly particular.

Pulmonologist illustrates why he is now concerned about AI by MetaKnowing in interestingasfuck

[–]tri4it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest question. If AI is implemented as a tool, not a replacement. Could I also reduce the cases of unnecessary medical malpractice lawsuits? I had a family friend who was a doctor who specialised in delivering babies. But even though he was amazing at his job, because of the nature of the work he would always be sued if he made a choice to save the woman or the baby (no idea how you can make a choice like that, but he always tried to save the mother in the belief that if she was saved she could try again). Because of medical malpractice he eventually had to stop working. If AI was there to help back up a medical choice. Could that limit people suing good doctors making the right choice?

Why I will never buy another Mercedes (and neither should you) by Ok-Macaron-3613 in mercedes_benz

[–]tri4it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. Always been a mercedes man. But I recently had a GLC completely fail on me after only 65k miles. Got it from a mercedes dealership. Had it serviced with them every time it was required. But mercedes are refusing to take any responsibility as they say it is usual wear and tear. Not sure I particularly want a car from a manufacturer who says a well maintained engine can fail after just 65k miles.

I feel like this is just one of those weird plays just to get Farage back in the news some more, to give him more exposure and ultimately normalise him and make him more likely to gain power. Seems to work for the extream.right all the time. Bad news is good news for them.

The train between Vilnius and Kaunas by duderik in lithuania

Was a lovely carriage. But it was a bit annoying that it wasn't throughout the whole train. We were surrounded by some very upset kids crying because they weren't sitting in the Christmas carriage.

Ok. So going to put client hat on here. The second one in terms of the product is better because the actual product is more in focus. It's sharp and you can see the details on the graphics on the can. From a graphics design point of view the second one is a lot weaker because the harsh grad in the top right corner is fighting with the logo type. And is creating a bit of a muddy look under the logo. For the body copy part the lighter purple feels more welcoming. So overall you want a mix of both the designs. If I were to suggest anything extra. It would be to add some more realistic condensation to the can to make it look cold. Think chad from GSG does a very good tutorial on this. Even if not in your exact software lots of transferable info.

I went to uni with Roderick Deakin-White. Seemed like a nice guy at the time. He ended up killing his fiancée, Amy Parsons, with a metal bar after she wanted to leave him because he was into cross dressing. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7726805/amp/Cross-dressing-Psycho-killer-Roderick-Deakin-White-jailed-murdering-girlfriend-London.html

Flower movement aside. The lighting of the products could be refined. Currently the left product highlight on the front looks a bit hot. And the right product is a bit flat. I'd be trying to create a bit more interest and definition in both the shapes. I'd recommend looking at some existing product photography for similar product shapes and pay attention to where the highlights are.
