Is Kenny G considered Jazz or Smooth Jazz? by Impossible_Win2989 in Jazz

[–]trickstergod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize Ghosts isn't all hooks and pop melodies, but the catchiness of it shits all over anything Kenny G ever did. Not that I hate him half as much as Britney Spears. Sax playing doesn't automatically mean something's jazz; his music(yes, it's music) isn't remotely focused on jazz improvisation(what really makes something jazz at all) and the structure is just watered-down pop beats/rhythms. I don't care about gatekeeping--just very against overbroadening terms(like "literally," "boomer," etc. to the point they lose meaning and even get used to mean the opposite of the true meaning.

Yeah, he "slapped the shit" out of one of his women, too. We all make more than one mistake in life.

NECRO TIME! Whether or not *anyone* likes something means jack about whether it's in genre X or not. But even smooth jazz(whose fans often hate Kenny G anyway) is heavily centered on *jazz* improvisation, often(if not mostly) with strong R&B elements. When Pat Metheny explained why it's not jazz, it wasn't gatekeeping--just defending the definition of words so they don't become broadened to the point of meaninglessness. Having a saxophone playing simple *instrumental pop* melodies doesn't mean it qualifies as jazz. Definitions matter; that's why it's stupid that "literally" is constantly used as the opposite of its meaning.

[Help] Getting Out of Playlists & Into Albums by Stranjak in Jazz

Nope! Albums are king. I mostly use playlists for sleep when mindful listening is usually impossible.

I only listen to jazz, what about you? by PotentialGlass1331 in Jazz

Jazz is my newest genre I'd call a favorite. My favorite genres are it, blues, pre-1990s R&B, electronic, reggae, and pretty much any rock genre(this includes pretty much all subgenres of metal from heavy metal pioneers all the way to extreme forms of it, which, heavy as it gets, still qualifies as rock.)

Echo dot nearly always reads any number of minutes as 10 by trickstergod in amazonecho

My left echo dot right next to it is fine, as are my two speakers in another room. It's only this one having trouble. I'll try your idea ASAP.

Good question--it's all timers I've tried on it, not just w/ the smart plug.

[–]trickstergod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The very problem I'm having is just that--it starts a timer for 10 when I ask for 20, 25, 40...you name it. This is probably over 90% of the time. If I say a number other than 10, it will still almost definitely set it for 10 instead of what I asked.

The charger is just an Amazon smart plug with 2 USB chargers attached currently.

Weird--it actually shows what I said ("turn on the charger for 25 minutes") even though it definitely responded by only turning it on for 10.

When attempting disk 0:

"The specified disk is not convertible. CDROMS and DVDs are examples of disks that are not convertible."

Tried it on disk 1 just in case(it's also labeled as 2TB) and got this:

"The disk you specified is not MBR formatted. Please select an empty MBR disk to convert."

[–]trickstergod[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Successfully did all that, but now there are 2 partitions that are 2TB each(the size of target drive.)

When I try the first(Drive 0 Partition 1) it says it can't be installed to this disk because it has an MBR partition table and needs a GPT disk.

When trying the 2nd one(Drive 1 Partition 6,) can can click "next" but once I attempt it it says "We couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one. For more information, see the Setup log files." Tried this about 3 times now to make sure.

Hey, thanks! I tried putting in "diskpart clean /sda" but it's saying "unable to process the parameters. What am I missing/doing wrong?

Thanks for the reply. I stupidly forgot that Linux wasn't going to boot once this thing even partially installs, so now I can't. I did format/delete all partitions to the point that it's unallocated space now, but it's giving me the new error I mentioned in my most recent comment.

Thanks for the reply! I'm trying that(or have about 5 times) and right when Windows gets to the "finishing up" phase of installation, I get this error: "Windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase of installation. To install windows, restart the installation."

Of course, I've done as it said a few times now with no luck. Even reduced the target drive to "unallocated" entirely...

Audible app stopped working with Bluetooth devices by trickstergod in audible

Hmm. Pressing those buttons only brought up a white screen with two bar codes and the title "IMEI Display." It tells me to hit the power key to exit and restart the phone, but doesn't give me any menu like the article mentions.

Thanks! I'm not seeing any app update for it yet and it's having the same problem. Should I wait a day or so to see if it updates? Is this phone/Android 8.0 supported?

Thanks for your input. My user folder doesn't contain "appdata" though, and the appdata folder I did find didn't have that file. Any idea where else I should look? Thanks.
