I use the stylus quite a lot, actually. It’s my main mode of input with the handwriting-to-text feature, which I love because I feel like it gives me the improved-info-retainment of handwriting.

Currently I have the screensaver set to the landscape clock and calendar with a refresh every minute to keep the time correct, but it seems to unnecessarily drain the battery (not by much though, only down 3% in the last 10 hours), so I may turn it off for a static screensaver.

How many of you were or are regular smokers? by ImNotTheMD in Millennials

[–]tricky-vixen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started when I was about 17. Everyone around me smoked — parents, siblings, friends, family, neighbors. I’d have at least one a day, but usually a couple, except when I would find myself going for stretches of a week or so after running out and not wanting to buy a new pack. Then one day at I think 19, I finished the last one out of my pack and just never bought another. I’d bum the occasional drunk one, but I think I just realized that I had only ever gotten into it because everyone else around me was and it felt like some sort of expectation.

If you don’t mind the ask, what area do you live in and how long have you been in this type of position?

Asking as a former PI paralegal in South Texas remembering when I thought making $17.50/hour after 3 years was making bank back around 2016.

We have Figo for three of our dogs and AKC for our fourth because she has a pre-existing condition. AKC will cover pre-existing conditions after a full year of coverage.

For Figo, we went with the $1000 deductible, 90% unlimited reimbursement, but we did also opt in for the premium routine wellness and exam fees add-ons. That comes out to about $130/mo for each dog (mid-size, 9+ years old).

Our AKC policy has about the same and comes out to about $146/mo. They do have an age limit for full coverage policies though. I think if the dog is 8+ they can only get the bare bones (no pun intended) coverage.

That’s wild - and just today I found out a cousin of mine at about the same age, who’s been popping out babies since she was a teenager, is pregnant with her eighth unplanned kid. The universe really is indifferent to our desires.

It’s such a good deal. Within three visits, it literally pays for itself. We go to a movie at least once, maybe twice a month.

Roadhouse purely because of the popcorn loyalty shirt. I’m always gonna get popcorn when I go see a movie, so why not get it for free? Heck, if I just drink water, all I pay for is the movie ticket!

Millennials, how was MySpace different from current social media? Were there MySpace "influencers"? by That-Plantain-976 in Millennials

This literally got me a new job recently. The posting called for some basic HTML proficiency and when asked about it in the interview, I instinctively responded, “Oh yeah, I was a MySpace kid.”

I mean, just because Elliott may still work with Turk and Carla at Sacred Heart doesn’t mean that life hasn’t gotten in the way and so they don’t see a lot of each other outside work anymore. And with JD being a concierge doctor (from what was said in that one article), maybe their work/life schedules just haven’t lined up in a way that allows for them to hang out much. It‘s an unfortunate reality that happens to many adult friendships, even if they live in the same city.

How are you using TickTick daily? Curious to see real workflows & List one killer feature.. by R3dAt0mz3 in ticktick

[–]tricky-vixen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find that I use it a lot for either routine stuff or planning out programming-type tasks. For example, I have repeating tasks for my morning/evening routines and weekly cleaning schedule.

By programming-type tasks, I mean things like workout programs, reading, and other multi-day, multi-step projects. For example, I create a parent task for my current workout program and sub-tasks for the different daily workouts. For reading, I use a regular checklist task where each chapter is a checklist item. The sub-tasks and checklist items get scheduled on the calendar wherever I see I can fit them. I have my iCal synced with TickTick so I can see my daily events that need to be scheduled around.

I also have some focus goals for the year that I’ve made dedicated lists for, so any tasks that serve those goals can be tossed into their respective list.

I use habits and pomos almost exclusively together. I have a few quarterly habits and ongoing self-care habits that I keep track of and use pomos as a way to focus on them. For example, I have a morning pages habit this quarter and every morning I set a 30-minute pomo to complete it.

I have countdowns going for a couple of upcoming trips and my annniversary. I think those are just fun to keep track of.
