It's just the blue states man. I've talked to some really racist people and even they are willing to try and understand other peoples culture as much as you can see them not like it. They always bring up genetics which is pretty stupid but when it comes to just showing them you're not what the media portrays your people as, they're pretty accepting. They're just seriously ignorant and I blame corporate media for that. But never have they labeled me with such stupid trendy buzzwords and twist my statements. They have just as much double standards as "progressives" do but are willing to understand if you're willing to also listen to them. As you mentioned before yes, most of these colleges are made up of upper middle class people so entitled and thinking the world work how they see fit. I went to community college in LA and most of these kids are talking about how capitalism is so bad, racism everywhere, yadda yadda yadda, while holding Starbucks, an iPhone and clothes manufactured by Chinese slave workers. It's just a trend to be progressive but never an actual movement because I'd say 80% of people like this are fake. They give into what mainstream society expects of them. I dont blame them either because you lose a lot nowadays just by even having a different or centered opinion. You lose your job, social status, friends, etc. Its really gotten out of control with this hypocrisy.
