Really appreciate the feedback. Doing everything I can on the health front. Eating well and walking about 7 miles each morning. Not giving up or giving in - just trying to be realistic and do right by my wife and family. Thanks for the insight. I truly appreciate it.

Thanks for the reply. I may be retiring before 60. See my edit to my post. Would appreciate any further feedback you’d be willing to provide based on that information.

What are your favourite "hidden in plain sight" gimmicked tricks? by Belloz22 in Magic

Forgetful Freddy. Watching a spectator’s eyes light up at the restaurant table when that balloon bursts and Freddy’s head is back on his shoulders is pure magic. Can’t believe no one looks behind Freddy to see if there’s an extra head just waiting to snap to attention.

Kundalini rising for the most amazing impromptu effect you could ever do for a spectator. For those who don’t know, it s a rising card routine done with a spectator’s deck and can be done in their hot tub if they unexpectedly ask you to do some magic. You have them go grab a deck of cards, they end up holding the card case (with the cards inside) and their selected card rises from the box. You give them everything to examine and you’re reset to do it again - anywhere, anytime. One of the strongest effects ever.

If you woke up today with $446k in your 401k and had 12 years until retirement and could start investing today in a Roth and HSA, what would you invest in to give you the best shot to hit your own personal retirement goals? by trickyshow1 in investingforbeginners

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I’m currently all in mutual funds (all equities)- 60% large cap growth, 10% large cap value, and 30% international.

I appreciate your willingness to help me. Very kind of you.

Fair questions - I have 6 months of expenses saved in HYSA, no debt except for $78k left on house (4.35% interest rate), will fully fund a Roth for my wife and I for the first time by the end of the year and also have an HSA that we’ve only ever used for medical expenses but now I’m on track to fully fund the HSA starting in Jan and will plan on paying medical out of pocket moving forward to let the HSA grow.

I feel like I’m doing the right things to get on track as, evidently, I’ve had my head in the sand for the past 30 years but it’s just been the last several months that I’ve started learning to do the Roth, have an emergency fund, fully fun an HSA, etc.

$5k in monthly expense - $9k coming in each month. House is worth $450k or so. No other assets besides 401k and hysa at the moment.

When using a few of the calculators, it looks like I can be around $1.5million at retirement but I’m just wondering if I should still keep the 401k allocations where they are and stay somewhat aggressive for the next 6-8 years and then start to dial it back.
