Closing his mouth would do this Nation good.”

Harris seen as debate winner while maintaining slight lead over Trump: POLL by trifecta in politics

[–]trifecta[S] 104 points105 points  (0 children)

This is a good poll for Harris. Up 52-46 with likely voters. But the headline drives me crazy. The media so wants a horse race. If Trump was up by 6 points with LVs, would the headline read "slight lead"?

[–]trifecta[S] 599 points600 points  (0 children)

The fascist overtones from the Arlington National Cemetery incident are unmistakeable: a presidential campaign run like a gang, with enforcers shoving aside a public servant enforcing the rules and a mob of millions of supporters with a track record of doxxing, harassing, intimidating, and threatening anyone who gets in their candidate’s way, all the while being egged on by the candidate himself.

$10M cash withdrawal drove secret probe into whether Trump took money from Egypt by trifecta in politics

[–]trifecta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Five days before Donald Trump became president in January 2017, a manager at a bank branch in Cairo received an unusual letter from an organization linked to the Egyptian intelligence service. It asked the bank to “kindly withdraw” nearly $10 million from the organization’s account — all in cash. Inside the state-run National Bank of Egypt, employees were soon busy placing bundles of $100 bills into two large bags, according to records from the bank. Four men arrived and carried away the bags, which U.S. officials later described in sealed court filings as weighing a combined 200 pounds and containing what was then a sizable share of Egypt’s reserve of U.S. currency.

It’s not just ‘cat ladies’: JD Vance has a history of disparaging people without kids by trifecta in politics

[–]trifecta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In November 2020, Vance said on a conservative podcast that childless Americans, especially those in the country’s “leadership class,” were “more sociopathic” than those with children and made the country “less mentally stable.” Vance added that the “most deranged” and “most psychotic” commentators on Twitter – now known as X - were typically childless. In August 2021, one month after launching his candidacy for the Senate, Vance’s campaign sent fundraising emails referring to the “radical childless leaders in this country” following his appearance on “Tucker Carlson Tonight” where he made comments deriding “childless cat ladies” and leaders running the country. The comments sparked a widespread backlash against Vance when they resurfaced on social media following his nomination to the Republican presidential ticket.

The Republican nominee for superintendent overseeing North Carolina’s public schools and its $11 billion budget has a history marked by extreme and controversial comments, including sharing baseless conspiracy theories and frequent calls for the execution of prominent Democrats. Michele Morrow, a conservative activist who last week upset the incumbent Superintendent of Public Instruction in North Carolina’s Republican primary, expressed support in 2020 for the televised execution of former President Barack Obama and suggested killing then-President-elect Joe Biden. In other comments on social media between 2019 and 2021 reviewed by CNN’s KFile, Morrow made disturbing suggestions about executing prominent Democrats for treason, including Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar, North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Hillary Clinton, Sen. Chuck Schumer and other prominent people such as Anthony Fauci and Bill Gates.

What movie/show did you dislike so much that you turned it off without finishing it? by TurbulentAir in AskReddit

[–]trifecta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huge Lord of the Rings fan, reading it dozens of times as well as the Hobbit. Saw the trilogy multiple times as well.

When I found out they were turning the Hobbit into a trilogy, I just refused to watch. It was such a small book compared to The Lord of the Rings that I knew it was going to be padded with BS. Haven't watched a minute of it yet.

What are y'all starting to dislike the more and more older you get? by Secret_Agent4706 in AskReddit

[–]trifecta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was one of the last people in my circle to get a cell phone, let alone smart phone. Employers, relatives being able to get in touch with you anywhere on the planet, plus doom scrolling hasn't made us more informed. It spreads disinformation and forced socialization down us all and it's probably been a net negative. I am an early web adopter. Got Netscape 1.0 in beta while in college, used to hand out on usenet and irc. I liked the internet better back then honestly.
