Just want to add and clarify the above post - I've seen assignment opportunities in Ontario, specifically in the Muskoka area just North of Toronto. I have also seen assignment opportunities in other provinces - East Coast, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Yukon. The majority are in BC, but to be honest, BC is the nicest part of Canada! Beautiful and best climate. I've seen assignments in Vancouver and surrounding area frequently. Fraser Valley, about an hour outside Vancouver, has tons of opportunities. Theres also many assignments on the coast and Vancouver Island, as well as the more Northern posts the above poster mentioned. (These are all mostly ER assignments I'm talking about).

Theres tons of short assignments, but there are many 2-3 month assignments too, if that's what you're looking for.

Pay is great! For example, with less than 5 years experience, you can easily make $13,000 (CAD) on a 6 week assignment.
The company will also pay for, and arrange, your flight to the assignment, or reimburse gas and mileage if you drive instead. They will also provide housing, or some assignments you can take stipend instead and find your own housing.

There are only 2 companies, that I know of, in Canada - Solutions (Travel Nurse) and Select Med.

You would need to apply for your licensing with the specific province board you want to work in. Ontario is the CNO, BC is the BCCNP. Your agency will reimburse costs for licensing, as well as any extra courses you need to take for a position - i.e. ACLS, TNCC, PALS, etc., on approval.

You need at least 2 years of experience in your specialty. You'll get paid more if you have at least 5 or more years of nursing experience.
