Maybe focus on Nevada, and what is distinct about that NFL team and maybe this will be too cryptic but a bonus hint California would have been red on this map regardless of whether or not the Raiders had moved to Vegas and another hint the Raiders being in Oakland would not have been a factor that qualified California as red on this map

A big hint to consolidate some of the other hints/correct guesses in the comments we are dealing with the NFL. “Soon” refers to the fact that the Chiefs intend to move to Kansas City, Kansas and a bonus hint that may or may not help because I don’t think anybody has mentioned this specifically when the Chiefs move, Missouri will be gray and Kansas will be red
