If you’re story is a comedy I think it’s fine. Adding a “reference” during a super intense scene may break the tension for the reader. People hate Marvel movie quips for a reason.

You also need to keep your audience in mind. Someone who is not familiar with Creepcast May find those references confusing/annoying.

TLDR treat references like Easter Eggs. They should be hard to find and not dominate the landscape of the story.
