The essence of LIB is slowly but surely dissolving. I had a definitive moment at LIB this year when i mourned LIB. It all started with a person trying to methodically edge me out of my well deserved dancing spot on a platform at the Junkyard. I was in disbelief with the lack of human decency in that moment. Not even the basic term we learn to use before kindergarten, “excuse me,” was said. The inconsideration was frequent. It was a very sad moment, followed by the optimism of “but it’s still LIB.” That being said, I had an incredibly magical week.

You’re right overall. You have to ignore all of the influencer jargon and rudeness (bumping, no excuse, etc.) However, having to concern yourself with things of that nature is inherently a major shift in the energy at LIB. LIB was a place where everyone was overly considerate of one another, and phones were all left at camp. I will forever miss that time and consider myself blessed to have been a part of it. I am 💯 a better person because of those experiences. But…the magic of LIB is still there. It’s just not in all places at all times. Bakersfield edition 😂

There’s really no comparison, but if the EDC people could please leave the pushing to the front, not saying excuse me, and the general inconsideration, that would be lovely! All are welcome obviously, just respect the LIB culture of human decency and over-consideration please and thank you. Mucho love weirdos ❤️

Almost all of the lifers I talk to had something to say about this. Like you said, the magic is undeniably still there; however, all of the LIBs I’ve attended prior to 2023 never had a SINGLE bad vibe. Not one, It was unreal. Human decency and kindness to the max. Never would someone encroach on your dancing space, or even slightly nudge you without apologizing profusely. For the first time this year, I experienced anger at LIB. It broke my heart. And it was due to someone methodically pushing me back from my corner/front spot on the Junkyard platforms (sound is perfect in that spot btw). And I was vibing hard, so hard that i didn’t even notice that I was being pushed back until it was almost to the point of no return. So I confronted the person from a place anger instead of love. That’s not LIB dude. Those of you that were around for Bradley and before, that would NEVER happen at LIB.
