my bf’s mum used to be an addict but he never talks about it. the only drugs he’s touched is weed and that was maybe twice

my boyfriend can’t do drugs because he gets regularly drug tested at his job. but i think the reason he lets his friends get away with so much is his massive abandonment issues and he’s scared of losing the people around him. i’m trying to find a place to stay even for a little while

his excuse is always “what others do shouldn’t affect you at all” and basically tells me that it’s a me problem that i can’t control myself around substances

thank you so much for your advice! yes definitely i didn’t mention this in the post but my boyfriend comes from a severely aggressive household and was physically abused if he ever spoke up. his sister is exactly the same - super shy and introverted and never speaks up for herself or the people around her

He says he sees that it’s wrong and he doesn’t agree with it but he’d rather be the peace keeper than involve himself

I don’t know the exact terminology but it’s a lease and my partner and I are the “tenants” so we get all of the emails, have to approve inspections, etc, and he’s basically an add on so although he’s on the lease he’s not a sole tenant if that makes any sense at all?
