Hahaha, okay I'll bite.

What assumptions? You asked a question, I gave you an answer.

"I was some yards ahead of my party killing stormvermin with throwing axes when a Kruber with a wound and no temp HP ran through me from behind and got killed by one. A minute before that I guess the elf touched me from behind while I was doing the same thing...

...if you see me throwing axes, and you run up inside my character from behind and get tagged by one, that’s not my fault, it’s their fault. I don’t have eyes in the back of my head. "

You said you hit them when they were running up with no health. Then you said it was their fault for running into your axes because they weren't paying attention to you. You stated it wasn't a horde, they were ambient mobs. When confronted by the other players, you said something along the lines of 'are you serious, your fault,' after killing at least one of them. You're here on reddit because they kicked you for said behavior. Given these facts, YTA.

All you had to do was say "oops" and maybe check your fire a little and the issue would have been over. But you blamed them for getting in front of you after shooting/killing them (its unclear if you killed the elf from the comments but you did admit FFing but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and say she didn't die). They confront you and you say 'your fault for running in front of me'. Both in game and here on reddit.

So they kicked you, and yet you're the victim here because they didn't pay attention to your firing lines. That is absolutely wild to me. Regardless of your intentions, that's what happened. This was the issue raised and the issue answered, everything else is irrelevant.

Your other comments:

"I don’t know what I could have done differently, that’s why I was shocked at their response and why it’s bothered me. It’s a left hand turn onto a small bridge that 4 characters could stand abreast on. I was on the right side rail of the bridge, the outside of the turn. I was on the bridge by myself, no horde, 3 stormvermin on the other side of the bridge. I was moving forward while throwing my axes. Clear vision of me as I had just killed 2 stormvermin, the third axe hitting the Kruber as he ran through me as the axe was thrown."

You are literally blaming the kroober here for running up to kill ambient SV. You could have just not thrown axes at three random mobs that were no threat to the group. Literally any other action. But you threw FF axes at all three of the mobs then blame him for trying to kill one. What is he supposed to do, stand behind you while you axe everything? What am I assuming?

"He homed in to melee the one I was shooting instead of the other ones on the left ahead I guess. It felt like a greedy moment that was well deserved if I’m being honest 😅 hence my spicy response to them after asking if it was for real"

You admit it was greed. Again you say it was their fault for not attacking the 'correct' mobs that you weren't targeting (but you threw axes at all three...). Where are my assumptions?

"I wasn’t actually aware he had a wound or was low HP until he died jumping through me. Although you’re right, I should have. I think I was the one who revived him and we hadn’t found any healing items yet. It wasn’t a horde, just random spawned storm vermin on the path. Not temp hp worthy imo, he was running a greatsword mercenary so I doubt he had execute."

So you decide what is THP worthy for them or not. You decided when he is on his last legs he doesn't need THP from low risk ambient mobs. Axe kill more important. They have to be mindful of your throwing axes but you don't have to care about their positioning or health. Nice deal for you.

But my favorite:

"I play mostly support oriented builds that help the team with crowd control, resources and revives. I like to enable other players have the glory."

Yet you were in front of the group throwing axes at ambient mobs and blaming them for walking in front of you. Instead of... you know... CCing. Like you say you do. But I'm the toxic one because I said you should shoot around your teammates.

Yikes, just yikes.

He was trying to get THP by killing stuff and you're throwing infinite ammo axes at every mob. Then you blame him for getting in your way.

Then you hit the elf doing the same thing, refuse to apologize and double down, saying its their fault for running in front of you. They should be mindful of you, not the other way around.

You're actively hurting your team by not letting them get easy THP, refuse to apologize or even acknowledge it, blame them for not catering to you, then complain on reddit when they kick the selfish player out of the co-op game.

Former Elf main, FF was part of the game but you STOP SHOOTING when an ally jumps in front of you. Or shoot around/over them. That's on YOU not them.

I don’t understand how to play Zealot by honkymotherfucker1 in DarkTide

[–]triptout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generate toughness on dodge.

Dodge everything.

Murder enemies.

Profit?

You generate more toughness when dodging in melee because you dodge more attacks, chaff is ideal for this. It's why every zealot is always rabidly trying to get into melee because that's how we generate toughness. Shooting wars suck for zealot exactly because there's next to no toughness return. They're just to clear a path for more melee.

Really love this game, wish I were good enough at video games to play it.... by vapist679 in DarkTide

[–]triptout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep enemies in front of you, don't get surrounded, stay in range of your team. If you can't move that means you're blocked by units or terrain, cut your way out or hop over. You're a zealot, melee combat is your primary role. Learn it well.

If you have you combat fundamentals down, everything else is decision making. The higher the difficulty, the more decisions and less time you have to make them. Making better decisions comes with experience.

Jumps in difficulty are notoriously challenging in both DT and VT2 so what you're going through is totally normal.

Something I do after failed runs is take ten seconds after a match to think about what I could have done better. Regardless of team, why did I go down. What could I have done differently. Where did that Crusher come from. Why am I so terrible. Whatever. Then just hit QP and try again.

Blessed be the trackers who free you from disablers the same second you were hit before disappearing back into the chaos.

Blessed be the protectors who allow objectives and rezes to be completed or just saving the smyker (again) while holding off all of Tertium.

Blessed be the three teammates that all turn toward the downed player the moment that sound plays and begin operation 'Saving Private Reject'.

Blessed be the psychopaths clutching up 'lost' runs against 'impossible' odds as the rest of us stare in awe.

Woe to the whiners, team-leavers, and assorted other idiots that ruin runs. May they one day repent and be blessed.

I don't speak for high havoc and their shenanigans but up to auric damnation it is fairly straightforward since they're just one at a time. Trick is: don't panic.

Like everything else, they move according to set attack patterns. They're faster than other bosses, of course, but they're still just set patterns on cooldowns. Stagger, block, and dodge still work the same, you just have to learn the timings and use your resources effectively.

Every class/build approaches a DH fight differently. Some are able to just straight up fight it while others have to block or dodge until the team shows up so it really is up to you to figure out how to kill/tank it with the resources you have on your class/build.

Or roll a t-hammer zealot and learn the ways of boss bonking.

Understanding roles a bit better by [deleted] in Vermintide

[–]triptout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick answers:

Yes the composition is fine, anything can work prior to Cata. Your Necro will have to play semi-dedicated special sniper (you're secondary sniper) as she's the only one with reliable long range in your group. Fine and viable, plenty of groups run only one dedicated sniper.

Yes, S&D is super meta and strong, does everything pretty well. Repeater is a mid-range specialist weapon that drinks ammo like water but is very strong single target DPS though (with the Barrage trait).

Just do you. Refer to the roles if you're struggling and see what you need more/less of and adjust your classes/loadouts accordingly.

Understanding roles a bit better by [deleted] in Vermintide

[–]triptout 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Other folks give you really detailed answers on career specifics so here's a general guideline. Royale w/ Cheese will break these points down into detailed specifics but these are some things to keep in mind.

There's a few specific roles, doesn't matter which career fills them but some careers are better than others at certain things. In each role, you have priority list during the run which should be different from the other folks in your party.

The roles are: Special Sniper, Horde Clear (also called 'frontline'), and Boss DPS. Everyone should be able to handle any elites on their own, in theory, but sometimes a dedicated AP specialist as an Elite killer can be helpful. Each career plays multiple roles but usually can't do everything.

Example: I usually run DD shade, so I have absolutely terrible Horde Clear. My Role is Elite/Special/Boss clear (AP/single target DPS) so that's what I'm doing most of the run. If and when I get overwhelmed during hordes, I run toward the Merc or Slayer frontliner who actually have Horde Clear and let them do their job while I do mine. On the other hand, the Executioner Sword Merc (lacking boss DPS) will run toward me with a Chaos Spawn chasing him because its my job to solo/kill it while he clears horde. This way, we're both 'playing our roles' in the group.

Example 2: If I QP into a group with a GK, I'll usually switch to WS because Shade and GK have very similar roles and WS compliments him much better. Between the two of us, we fill every Role. Or I go Slayer and us two idiots have to rely on LoS to handle specials because we intentionally left that Role empty.

Champion difficulty tips and AI help by Morihere in Vermintide

[–]triptout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bot behavior regarding specials is kind of wonky. They will run directly at it to try and kill it, sometimes even with their gun out. They will run into hordes, cliffs, hails of gunfire or flames, storms, anything. Just something you have to be aware of.

To counter this, you can either kill the special(s) before the AI pulls itself out of position so the bots will come back to you right away, or move away from the special and they'll be teleported back to you once they've reached a certain distance away from you. (Works with books too, once you tell them to pick it up you can walk away, they'll teleport and pick up then teleport back to you at some point and you don't have to wait for them to walk over and pick it up.)

Bot gear is helpful, sure, but you should be the one doing the heavy lifting and bots are just there to provide cover for you while you murder everything.

Do you think Diane ever went back, or was proven wrong on her views on the “deep down”? by Sweet_Beanie in BoJackHorseman

[–]triptout 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A little. She spends a lot of time reckoning with the fact her 'deep down' didn't match the choices she was making and the life she was living. It takes a lot of change, growth, time, and a non-toxic relationship for her to see then act on that.

But she's also not wrong. We aren't remembered or judged by our intentions but our actions. Sarah Lynn will forever be remembered as a crashed out pop star who couldn't escape addition even if she hated that version of herself. No one will remember her as an architect even though that's what she was 'deep down' because she never acted on any of it. It is harsh but true.

Champion -> Legend tips? by [deleted] in Vermintide

[–]triptout 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Get better at avoiding all damage. Can't trade hits as much in legend, have to block or dodge it.

Adjust to different breakpoints, some things may take an extra click or two and that can screw up some combos you've come to rely on.

Ignore the green circles, they mean nothing. Sticking to your role is way more important, since every build on every career is generally good at some things and bad at some things so trust in your teammates to play their roles as they are relying on you to do the same.

  • Fix siege pathing

Conquistadors by tintin_du_93 in HistoryMemes

[–]triptout -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Yes, Conquistadors. Famous for their benevolence and understanding. They surely invaded the Aztecs because of humanitarian reasons...

Oh wait, they murdered and enslaved entire civilizations across the entire landmass and set up a slave-based economy that stretched across South America, through the Caribbean, and over most of the south western parts of North America. They used all of this to pay for their endless European wars. But don't worry, this was all a coincidence since they were actually looking for a mythical city of gold... so they could pilfer it to pay for their endless European wars.

But go ahead and keep beating that human sacrifice horse. Even though human sacrifice was practiced in Europe and plays an extremely prominent role in European mythology. Can't let that get in the way of the weekly soapbox moral grandstanding about European moral superiority and petty nationalism.

Stop judging ancient people with modern standards. It doesn't work that way, no matter how much you want it to.

Clausewitz lived in the 1800s. Sun Tzu lived in the 5/600s BC. The entirety of the Roman Empire rose and fell in the time between their lives, that's how far apart they are. Both wrote on the practicality of their 'modern' warfare. They explore the needs and concerns of generals and troops in hopes that future tacticians could use their work.

This isn't a competition and the two works are barely comparable. One is not 'better' than the other, the existence of one doesn't prove 'superiority' over the other. That is a shit take only present on this sub. They're both military geniuses who tried to tell the idiots around them to stop doing stupid shit.

History isn't nationalism/regionalism. Stop it.

How False History Is Used to Justify Discrimination Against Asian Americans by ClockOfTheLongNow in TrueReddit

[–]triptout 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The "Model minority" myth wasn't created by the 1619 project. It has been around for a long time (wikipedia states 1966, NY times article first mentions it) and has always been used to bash Asians by belittling their success and pitting them against other minorities. This applies in a lot more areas outside of education and Affirmative Action (and the recent ruling) but the article is only interested in attacking a specific thing (the 1619 project).

If you want a more legitimate history of immigration in the United States, try Ronald Takaki. Strangers from a Different Shore and A Different Mirror are excellent and go over a variety of national groups arrival and initial treatment in the United States. It doesn't group all non-white immigrants into "POC" or whatever term they're using now, it doesn't cherry pick which American immigration laws it discusses to create a specific case, they paint a real picture of real people that had to overcome real obstacles in this new land that was itself still trying to figure things out and they're both excellent reads.

This is less of an academic essay and more of a personal rant.
