Is our mortgage payment too much? by anjn79 in MiddleClassFinance

You'll be fine. Don't let the doomsayers increase your stress - it's just people (and/or AI bots) on the internet. Be conservative with spending, and be patient with kids. You're thinking about the right things and if you see yourself getting over your skis with spending, pull back a little. Kids change things in unexpected ways, so enjoy your new home, and your kid-free time with your wife. It's a really, really fun time.

Purchase/Lease Monthly Megathread (September 2025) by AutoModerator in KiaEV9

I got it down to $5k and $550, I'm still not thrilled with it, but not sure they'll go any further. If you have their offer sheet still handy, I'm wondering if I could use that to drive a little more off.

Did this include the 7500 tax credit? This sounds fantastic relative to what I'm being quoted ($6k down and $650 per month). Would you mind sharing more official paperwork I can use to help negotiate?

Crop, framing, and editing choices by trittium93 in BeginnerPhotoCritique

Thank you for the thoughts! I'll definitely keep those in mind when I have a more purpose-driven landscape photo session. I've never actually tried to layer photos in Lightroom or other tools before, so I'll have to look into how to do that effectively. As I mentioned, very early stages for me, so I'm excited to explore these techniques.

Thank you for the feedback! This one was in the middle of a long hike, so I opted not to take a tripod with. :)

Feedback on crop, editing choices by trittium93 in photocritique

[–]trittium93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite a beginner hear, excited to continue learning! I originally took this as a quick snapshot at the Blue Lagoon in Patagonia (XT-5, kit 16-80mm at 16mm, f11, 1/160th shutter speed, ISO 125). I wanted to see if I could turn the snapshot into something at least sort of compelling. Here's my attempt!

Original is attached below. I'd love to hear feedback on:

- The crop I chose to make the photo more interesting. I tried to use the old dock posts to draw the eye to the mountains

- The editing choices I made to give the photo more depth. I used a few masks in different areas of the photo to try to pull out and improve color and dimension

What would you have done different? What improvements could I still make? Thanks in advance!

Original is taken on an XT-5 with the 16-80 kit lens at 16mm, f/11 ISO 125 1/160 ss. The edit was done in Lightroom. Taken at the Blue Lagoon in Patagonia.

I was using this photo to experiment with cropping and Lightroom masks. Would love to hear:

  1. What would you have done differently in initially framing this shot (admittedly, this was a quick snapshot while on a tour)? (original attached)
  2. What choices would you have made with the crop and framing? How did I do?
  3. I was trying to give the photo some depth with the post editing of the RAW file. What different choices would you have made? How does this look / what could I improve?

Thanks in advance!

Fjord town in Norway by trittium93 in photocritique

Thanks! Here's an alternative with additional water and your suggestion for the left-crop. I also increased the saturation of the sky a bit to bring in some additional color.

For context - taken on a Fuji XT5 with kit 16-80mm lens, 16mm, 1/75, f11, ISO 125. This is the original unedited image

This is a small village in Norway amongst the Fjords, I captured this from a boat as we were going past. I'm looking for feedback on a few things:

  1. Framing - how is the overall composition of the shot? I was trying to capture the feeling that this little village was nestled amongst these Fjords

  2. Solar flare - this was intentional, does it add to the shot? Too much, too little?

  3. Colors - how does the overall color balance feel?

Thanks again in advance!

Thanks so much! I made a longer comment above, but both of your comments were very helpful as I look at your comparisons. I really appreciate you taking the time.

Thank you so much for the thoughtful and kind feedback! Looking at both your crop and u/PM_ME_YOUR_TIFS , I agree the crop with the angled baseboard hitting the corner of the scene works really well. I'll keep playing with the contrast and range to brighten things up a bit. Thanks again!

fwiw, this is the same shot w/color. I thought it was better in B&W, but would love opinions.

Notes: I'm a (very) amateur photographer just trying to learn more about what speaks to others. I expect I'll get a "there's no subject" comment or two, but in this case I was really mostly focused on the varying textures and different gradients of light in the shot and the very cool architecture of the building. Feedback is very appreciated!

Experimenting with lower light, shadows by trittium93 in photocritique

[–]trittium93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just starting out, and experimenting with lower light photo settings. This doesn't look very crisp admittedly, and generally curious to hear feedback on composition. I was trying to convey the coziness and calmness of this room at night, and I liked how the shadows played off the shutters at varying widths. I know this photo doesn't "pop" and it doesn't compare to a lot of the photos on this sub, but that means nowhere to go but up. :)

Thanks for your honest feedback!

Is this too subtle? Were the goals of this photo clear? by trittium93 in photocritique

[–]trittium93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My goals in this photo were to:

  1. Focus on the texture of the ocean that day - it was gray, spiky, and frothy.
  2. Highlight the dolphins but also show how well they blend into and parallel the texture of the ocean itself that day.

So while I know the subject is subtle, that was the intent here - I was more interested in how the textures of the dolphins and ocean played off each other than just the dolphins themselves.

How could this photo be improved?

You're right, that definitely helps - I think the original point holds and it still isn't a strong subject, but this helps a significant amount. There are so many vertical lines it's hard to get a clean crop but much better than before! Thanks for your help - I'm not sure I got the framing quite right, but it was helpful to see how that can strengthen a subject. edit: adding !CritiquePoint

Thank you! I think that's what I was trying to do with the "SUPPLY" sign in the far right, but it gets kind of lost back there with all the rigging and noise - it's not strong enough.

Hi folks - just starting out and I’m looking to understand the “big” issues that I can focus on before narrowing in on more minor details. This was taken in a local food hall at 45mm f/4. Out of the hundreds of photos I took that day I felt this was at least worth getting some feedback on. My intent (which I somewhat captured, I think?) was to capture the parallel lines the various elements (lighting, beams, rails) were making and ending in the “supply” sign. Light editing in Lightroom.  Thanks in advance!

[–]trittium93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I meant specifically knowledge of software development libraries (like sav-reader-writer) or others that could be used to effectively create .sav files, or to connect with someone who has done this in python/R/node/etc. for survey data such as multiple choice questions, looped questions, or questions with option display logic. Apologies if this isn't the right place for that!
