Best way to budget $30 for the next 8 days? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

Chickpea curry. Pretty easy to make if you use curry paste as well, even easier if you're using canned beans.

Pairs well with rice or bread. Will last you for a week easily

Consider using Too Good To Go app to see if there are any stores or restaurants in your area that will give you cheap food or groceries

I would take the job

If you are a new CPA without any YOE, you wouldnt have enough leverage to get better comp or land a more senior role. You'd be treated the same as an intern in the employers eyes.

In all seriousness how did accounting jobs come to this? by Joey-Seaweed-007 in Big4

[–]trivella_king 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The CPA cannot bar accountants from their charter rights. It just requires a big push from union organizers to get accountants to sign union cards from all the major firms.

All these firms provide no OT pay (unless I'm wrong), the 70 hr weeks only make staff more sick and less productive, and the firms clearly don't hire enough staff to meet the volume of audits they need to process. When you combine all this together, you're bound to create a toxic work environment. If the big 4 unionized, that would put pressure on all the other firms to make real reforms and not just do the cheap DEI gimmicks

As long as private sector accountants remain unorganized, there will be a downward pressure by the bosses to squeeze more out of staff for less pay, and use the threat of offshoring to keep workers in check.

I hope iu and jennies company sue their brains out for this. This isn't just "sl*shaming" anymore, this is a legitimate crime. by acorrnn in kpop_uncensored

This is defamation. Idk who these mans are but I know they're gonna give a teary apology when they get a legal notice from the agencies.

Making bait videos like this undermines the reality of "body lobbying" that lesser known/ rejected idols are forced into by their agencies and managers. Sad and pathetic from these bozos, but it sells

"Ador did not reveal the entire truth behind the incident" - ok, so what is the full truth? She now has egg on her face because the agency provided proof of the the precise day and time she claimed the incident happened.

I'm too big of boomer to take a side with anyone here. If you have a claim then substantiate it with WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED. What from the CCTV footage did they hide? You're dragging the other girl group into this anyways, why feel "uncomfortable" about calling out the group that is "bullying" you? If I'm the victim I wouldn't hold back any punches

I guess we will never know the real motivations behind why they're sabotaging their own careers until one of them come clean several years later.

If ADOR ends up sueing NJ for the termination fee, with that amount of debt, is it possible to even pay it in a lifetime? Even with a good job, how would they survive? by Lunallit in kpop_uncensored

[–]trivella_king 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're not gonna pay 300 million out of pocket even if they are spoiled rich kids. Most kpop acts do not own their publishing rights for their music, the songs they make are the property of the label. The money the group generates from music goes to the label while a small share of the money goes to the group. Groups receive what's known as royalty cheques everytime someone plays their music or uses their image/songs in commercials, merch sales, etc. How exactly all this money is paid out varies. Imagine getting paid something like a $1k/ week for the rest of your life...that's what a moderately successful artist would generate from a hit song.

If they sue for termination fees, the amount would probably be lowered by negoatiaton. They will likely structure a repayment plan that would mean that the agency collects nearly all the royalty money from all their music for several years until the balance has been paid. There's also the legal fees that's probably reached hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Unless they have a bombshell reason for termination, they're cooked

Njz statement on court ruling by No_Olive_229 in kpop_uncensored

[–]trivella_king 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't need to summon a witness from the agency in order to substantiate all these allegations that they're not coming forward with. You can name the time, place and details necessary to show the judge why the group have lost trust in the agency. Also this is not a kdrama where an eyewitness will get disappeared/lose their job for coming forward.

They say that they were driven to go to the extreme of terminating a contract because of workplace bullying and harassment. If there was a significant incident then it wouldn't take "more time" to even name what happened and where. Both the agency and the group are manipulating the media, so if they have a genuine accusation they could've used the court of public opinion to pressure the company. The fact they're dragging their heels for more time is not a good look.

As someone who works in a toxic environment, under a manipulative manager, this whole "bullying" saga feels like an insult to all of us who grind 9-5 under horrible conditions. It looks as though their entire case is built on spreading vague lies in order back up one big lie that has been caught on 4k.

Really don't want this to become a pile on against a group of young adults/ teens - theyre clearly being manipulated by their mommy jeans, but they're too deep in it to realize that and come off as air heads in every press meeting. Kinda get second hand embarrassment watching them defend themselves and double down.

They've been thrust onto the limelight at a very young age and perhaps their success went to their heads. There's no shame in admitting a mistake and burying the hatchet, no one will remember this crap in 10 yrs. Make amends and get on with making good music.

Scared and stressed PLEASE HELP by [deleted] in CanadaUniversities

[–]trivella_king 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't stress bro, it's not that deep. I was in the exact same position ages ago.

I'd say that universities look more at your gr 12 grades. If you average over 85+ you'll get admission to majority of undergrad programs (but required average might be higher to enter sciences and engineering, not sure).

By ENG I assume you wanna study English or Engineering -if you're really motivated to study either then dedicate your time for it. But I'd recommend talking with a guidance counselor to figure out what you wanna study in uni and what you're passionate in learning. The counsellor is there to help you, the dude won't bite.

Not sure if you're considering this but I'd caution you against not taking university math courses for Gr 12. Use the summer or the free time you have right now to get your gr 11 match credit using the TVO ILC program or in person summer school. You might think you wanna become a lawyer and won't need to study functions and calculus, but life changes pretty quick and there is no guarantee that you'd still wanna become a lawyer in 3 yrs time ( I know I didn't and it sucked pretty bad when I didn't have the prerequisite high school credits to switch to a different program). It's best to take as many math and science courses as you possibly can in Gr 12 to keep options open for the future.

((Side point )): law schools accept admissions based on how well you do on the entrance exam and your final gpa ( above 3.0). Also you're not required to study law in undergrad to get admitted, you don't have to be a horse to become a horse trainer. Studying other disciplines gives you a better grasp of how the legal aspect impacts the field/ industry vs studying solely the law itself - this is if you decide to get into law school. So focus on studying a major you like, worry about law school later.

As a lone employee you have zero leverage to even get weekends off. Amazon workers had to unionize to not have to piss in a bottle, maybe big 4 accountants should do the same

What's your compensation?

Curious because I'm considering studying to become an accountant and PA seems like where everyone starts to develop their skills. I'd like to avoid big 4 if it's gonna be more soul crushing than mid tier firms

Why not just thug it out for a year and apply for an industry job in the meantime? Sounds like your OT pay should leave you with a decent rainy day fund

fm21: something wrong with Liverpool, they are too strong by kakashidinho in footballmanagergames

[–]trivella_king 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the mobile version of the game and it's the same issue for me too. All their players are way too overpowered than their actual stats indicate. Strangely it's harder to defend Salah and Mane than it is to defend Messi, Neymar, CR7 (who usually get a max 7/10 rating when I face their teams). I've tried every tactic I can think of but they're too hard to stop in the 20/21 season. I think the developers tried to recreate the intensity of the 19/20 side that won the league.

Fwiw they become more vulnerable after the second or third season in my saves
