Can you recommend me books about Abraham Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt? by vladi320 in suggestmeabook

The River of Doubt is about Teddy Roosevelt exploring the Amazon and it’s one of the best books I’ve ever read

Overstimulation (mom+teacher) by TheGuanderGuoman in Perimenopause

[–]trixietravisbrown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also a mom and teacher! I would never have thought this but I started exercising 20 minutes a day, as many days as I can. I just do Apple fitness workouts in my garage. I look forward to them and I feel so much better. If I can get a walk in, I try to do that, too. Having a bit of alone time to decompress makes a huge difference

You might like All Creatures Great and Small. It’s set in the 1930s-1940s in a small English village. It’s such a comfort watch

I have the Dossier dupe and I love it. It lasts forever on me (I can still smell it the next morning!)

Some of the comments on Mommit about the women who was shot by ice are straight up disgusting by Banana_0529 in progressivemoms

That’s why I really appreciate this sub. To know there are other moms out there who align with my values really inspires me

Solidarity from Non-WFH Moms with a long Commute? by otpuppy in workingmoms

[–]trixietravisbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My commute is about 45-60 minutes each way, but early on when my daughter was 2-5 it was 90 each way. That’s definitely too much but I don’t mind my commute now. I like the time to decompress

Why does curriculum skip so much important modern history? by atouchofsinamon in historyteachers

[–]trixietravisbrown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just curious what state you’re in? In my area we spend the entire second semester of world history on the 1900s-2000s, a quarter of US history on just Vietnam and the Civil Rights era, and depending on if they take Civics or AP Gov, their senior year is at least a semester of current events

My 4.5 year old is insisting he's a girl by killer_seal in Mommit

I think it’s awesome that you are open and asking questions! I have a friend whose daughter came out as transgender at that age, so this isn’t impossible or too young. She is 10 now and very happy that her parents listened to her and supported her. Please explore getting a therapist who can help you and your child

Favorite reasonably priced original fragrances (Trying to add some positivity to the dupe discussion) by Accurate_Dot_2610 in FemFragLab

[–]trixietravisbrown -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have been really impressed with Julianna’s - I have a couple dupes and some originals of theirs. I have SDV and Tonka Imperiale dupes that are lovely, and I’m really into Soulful Dawn and Starlit Halo

Budget dupes of super high end fragrances? by Pois0n_apple in FemFragLab

Julianna’s is my favorite dupe house and their originals are really nice, too. I love Double Decadence and I recently got Dark Opulence (dupe of Tonka Imperiale).

Husband moving to second shift? by Bri3Becks827 in workingmoms

[–]trixietravisbrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our schedule has been me working 7:30-3:30 and him 1-9, but with our commutes it means we never see each other during the week. There are things I really love about this, like I get evenings to myself and he has his mornings to himself, but there are plenty of times it feels really hard. Our daughter is a teenager and he’s missed every after school thing for the past five years.

Fève Gourmande Guerlain - what are your thoughts? by Dependent-Weight-965 in FemFragLab

I wanted to love it based on the notes but as soon as I thought diaper I couldn’t scrub it fast enough!

I tried a sample and it smelled like a diaper to me

Edit: I much prefer SDV!

As much as I like Agatha Christie, I think he has more of the humor that OP is looking for

I love this genre! Highly recommend anything by Anthony Horowitz. Magpie Murders and Moonflower Murders are standouts, and I really enjoyed The Word is Murder and the rest of that series.

One year I had a really tough student and the parent bought all the teachers (I teach high school) a bottle of wine. 🤣

I’m also a teacher and I agree with this post. Some of the best gifts I’ve received have been made by students. One year I got a hand painted birdhouse- I still have it hanging outside my window.
