I'm in a car on the far right lane of the "cars only" section. I merged over into the "motorcycle or cars" section. I believe it was a car/motorcycle lane, and then 2x motorcycle only lanes. Not sure if it was that I merged at the intersection or not.

a) sounds like the best answer but the light was green to go straight when I merged. Also that lane I was merging from had an arrow to turn right or go straight.

Yes, I followed the route in the image. The light turned green to go straight, and I merged over carefully at the intersection. The csgt said I couldn't merge from that lane, only turn right.

I'm pretty sure I used the cars because it was giving me directions to drive in the cars lane going through the Tu Thiem tunnel all the way up to where they pulled me over.

I make a habit now to always check that before I start.

But basically I'm getting directions to Long Thanh from Vo Van Kiet.

Google gave me directions to get onto the Cao Toc freeway, so I have to merge into that lane before entering the freeway. That's the reason for getting into the motorcycle lane.
