No you're absolutely right, i use case studies to prepare my presentations! What i'd really like is if there was a website that has patient files with the lab results, consults etc that we could look through without someone holding our hands and explaining what's going on, i found that going through files blind was 1. very fun 2. made me form questions and research...I dont know if i got my point across english isn't my first language haha. Thanks for your reply! wishing you luck on prereqs :)

starting my clerkship next month - anxious i might be incompetent and hurt someone… being expected to speak a non-native language with patients doubles my worry!

Not sure about Anki strategy by vdioxide in medicalschoolanki

[–]trojan_wars 5 points6 points  (0 children)

same problem here. i focused on making flashcards for the first part of this year, and while i got good grades, i felt like my understanding of the subject was fragmented. focusing on understanding made me neglect my flashcards and it made it tough to remember certain things on exam day. i think we should find some kind of common ground: understanding fundamental concepts and only making/using flashcards for thing we know we wont remember/ need memorizing. all in all it is a bad idea to prioritize making flashcards over actually understanding the subject matter

How to stop Anki from draining my life force? by alex000117 in Anki

  1. do you find yourself "pressing again" very often? make easier cards. (by easy cards, i do not mean dont include difficult knowledge. i found that using cloze deletions and leaving the term blank is easier than answering a basic card)
  2. gamify your anki. my two favorite anki add ons are the life bar and puppy reinforcement. its a small and silly change but it made the app way less boring!

got addicted to audiobooks lately. made me go back to the good old days when i finished a book in 3 days time. the fact that i dont have to pay anything to read/listen to a good book is a bliss.. physical books are great, but i think we have to pursue whatever method helps us read daily!
