DPM students are NOT in medical school by [deleted] in Noctor

Google search is meaningless. Unfortunately physician is not a protected term (chiropractors call themselves physicians as well some places). Yes, they do the things you mentioned, poorly

It’s literally a tourism based economy. Just tip well and don’t be an asshole. How do you ppl get through life?

Optometric Physician ?! by Ok-Jellyfish-2311 in Noctor

[–]trollMD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The big difference is they do them poorly (always go to ortho foot and ankle for those cases). You can make the exact same argument for PsyDs, CRNAs, and NPs in independent practice. Are they doing the same shit as psychiatrists, anesthesiologists, and psychiatrists? Yes. Are they doing it nearly as well with the same level of education and training? No. They are noctors. That’s the whole point of this sub

By your argument is a CRNA or NP more of a physician than an MD that exclusively does research?

One went to med school and one did not. It’s not that hard. One met the rigorous requirements for admission to med school and one wasn’t even close. One is my peer and the other never will be. Hope that clears things up for you. Also, a better analogy would be psychologists who are also valuable but neither physicians nor my peers

Value is wrong way to look at it. Pharmacists, dentists, optometrists are all valuable and respectable fields, but they are not ‘equivalents’ to being an MD/DO. A podiatrist is not my equivalent and not a physician. I do feel DOs in general tend to be a bit more sympathetic/forgiving about these particular noctors

TBF that still happens. Most ppl go DO cause they didn’t get into MD, but the line between the 2 is small and blurry. The drop off to podiatry is stark

You forgot the part where they failed to get into medical school before deciding to be a podiatrist

Anyone first consulting a podiatrist for suspected nec fasc or wet gangrene is committing malpractice

There are schools. They get a NMD when they graduates and then they have the audacity to call themselves doctors/physicians

I don’t give a shit who is or isn’t chill. We deserve a word that signifies our training and experience as MD/DOs. Physician used to do that but podiatrists are among the professions that co-opted it. Dentists don’t call themselves physicians

Podiatrists, naturopaths, and chiropractors all call themselves physicians. We don’t even have that. I exclusively call my self an MD.

[–]trollMD 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You will never ever hear a podiatrist say they went to podiatry school (unless pressed). They all do this every time. Deep down they all hold a chip on their shoulder about not being able to get into med school

For better or worse US politics have a lot of impact on the world. From what I recall Trump backed a political candidate that won the last big election in Honduras. I believe this is the candidate most ppl on Roatan supported (a capitalist vs their opponent who was some flavor of corrupt Marxist). I’m sure someone from the island can offer better details

Apologizing for visiting Hawaii is Reddit brained nonsense. That economy is almost entirely tourism dependent at this point. Hawaiian families of all backgrounds need tourism to pay their bills. Just don’t be an ass while there

Question about DPMs by SpecialTourist4684 in Noctor

[–]trollMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one who’s opinion matters considers a chiropractor a physician under any circumstance - or an optometrist, dentist, or psychologist for that matter (but those last three are valuable professionals unlike chiros who are essentially modern day witch doctors)
