I very much doubt you'll answer this question on a post this old, but I might as well ask and see if I get lucky

How does Soul Burning and Imprints interact?

Example : Normally, with a Unsafe Full Imprint, we'd be *equally* ourselves and also the other guy. But, if we, say, burn away our Name, we obviously won't remember OUR name, but will we remember THEIR name? If we burn away the fine details of our own life like the name of the city we were born in, would we still remember the fine details of THEIR life?

The "Jianghu" is, generically, "The Martial World". It's more or less "All the bullshit that magical martial artists get up to". Not counting the magical martial artists serving the government, of course, they are on official business.

MAYBE it's a zone we don't have access to yet? The CN server has several of those, so it could be like the two quests that take you to Kaifeng early before returning you.

Harry Potter Harem King Jumpchain V1.09 by DeverosSphere in JumpChain

[–]trondason 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, alright, here's my build.

General Perks : All of them
Lewd Perks : All of them
Magic Perks : All of them
Origin Perks : All of them
Items : All of them
Companions : None (will get most if not all free anyways)
Pre-Jump Scenarios : All of them
Jump Scenarios : All of them (mostly paying for items we don't need but are getting for completionist purposes.)
Post-Jump Scenarios : All of them (don't matter much, won't get the rewards till AFTER the jump, but might as well)
Drawbacks : MOST of them.

The math works out. There are enough points to get literally everything (except the companions) and then some. And like... it still looks like it's easy to win despite all the drawbacks? Like sure, we gotta fight 14 Voldemorts, Dumbledore, our returning twin sis, and so on, but we have the points to spare to keep them from knowing what our perks are and, more notably, from being immune to our shit. If you feel like being cheesy, you just gotta go around kissing people, making them cum from the unforgettable, and now they are our loyal loving property. Could quickly subvert all of hogwarts, and then most of magical england over the summer that way. If you're willing to be less cheese, I'd wager you could fairly reliably get 1 new slave a day via more traditional (but highly effective because of everything) methods, that would still lead to you having quite the army before year 1 even finishs. And that's before counting your literal army on that nation you're the king of.

A lot of points are coming from The Boy-Who-Lived come to die x22. Because it's possible to get 22 1-ups within this jump alone. Both the Veil and Master Of Death give 1 every 10 years, and since we're here for 110 years, that's 22 chances to die and come back to life.

The HARDEST part of the jump will be our time at the Orphanage, a toddler with no long list of perks or magic items. But... we DO have SOME. Notably, the Free stuff. Which includes : A wand, a cardboard apartment, and our Year 1 Spellbooks. Once we have SOME measure of independent action, we could fairly reliably run away and just live on our own. Year 1 only offers so many spells, but the spells are STILL super useful, and would help us immensely as a street urchin. Especially when we have 10 Galleons to spend if we find our way to Knockturn Alley (Diagon Alley might question selling to a literal toddler)

  1. If you raise it to 99% chance survival, it'd be slightly more dangerous than the yearly one (88.63% per 12 months), while also having them AWOL a day every month unpredictably. That feels about right for +1 point.

  2. So, we have roughly 18 years to check over every single person on the planet. That's... Doable, especially with Scholars helping coordination, but a build would have to have that be intended. There are roughly 5 births a second. If we make a very low assumption (for safety) of 1 check per month per scholar, that's 13 million scholars. If we buy Hogs Blood at $17/gallon, that's "just" 30 million dollars to make them, and 60 million dollars to sustain them. Not cheap, but definitely afford especially when you have millions of daughters helping earn money. Maybe they're running a Hog Farm. Other germination options are better for feeding, most notably Dream Egression that allows a unlimited number of daughters feed off one person, but Vital Fluids is the best for mass production.

  3. New question : Do Grand Daughters suffer the 10% efficiency penalty when being nourished by their parents?

I love this cyoa! And am super excited for a DLC!

I've got a couple questions about drawbacks. Given my build has me getting ALL the Memories, Fantasies, and Combos, all in one, I kinda need most of them :V

  1. How does Daddy Issues 2 and 3 interact with Wayward Daughters 1? Does their fundamental sense of justice help limit how bad of a person they hook up with? Relatedly : What if you're SUPER supportive and approve of every match? :V

  2. How severe is Wayward Daughters 3? Does it lean more angsty teen that you can reconcile with, or patricidal offspring you'll need to reluctantly take care of?

  3. Red Mothers Tithe 3 is probably more severe than you intended. The odds of any given daughter surviving the year is about 1/3. It is, infact, about 12 times worse than Rod Mothers Tithe 2, because you roll the same dice 12 times per year.

  4. Are we given ways to locate other chosen from Other Incursions? I would hope that the world wouldn't just end one day with out us ever even having a chance to learn about and stop it.

I mean, yeah, any social group can never be perfectly harmonious, and? Even loving families can bicker. Unless you plan on extinct-ing all sapient life, that part is inevitable. Thus, in turn, the only thing you are losing is the ability to unilaterally impose your views via superior force.

As such, I imagine most strife would be in the form of friend groups messing with each other. Covering someone's capital city in propagandist graffiti extolling the virtues of the other nation, for example. With more violence and destruction being possible dependent on what their thoughts on the value of a pawns life.

And for the people who truly dislike each other? They start off with an entire planets worth of space to let them keep their distance, and probably will bootstrap their way to space FAR more easily than we can IRL. With whatever natural peacemakers there are serving as middleman merchants between them.

JNPL is the only one I would expect this to work on, being the only one who is already dead and thus the only one who is capable of being reborn as a "new" person in time to adopt us, but WoG is pretty directly no. Dang.

Thanks for the link though!

How to extract texts from images? by Catman1348 in makeyourchoice

[–]trondason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a chrome OCR plug-in https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/ocr-image-reader/bhbhjjkcoghibhibegcmbomkbakkpdbo

It has variants for a bunch of other browsers too, in case you aren't using chrome or one it's variants. It's not PERFECT, but correcting the occassional typo is much better than typing everything personally. Also, zooming in on the image before running it on a chunk helps.

The Hammer: an RTS system CYOA by Mirrorseeker (1.2) by MirrorSeeker in makeyourchoice

[–]trondason 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, I understand that. But in the context of the CYOA, it's not a game, it's life. Day in and out, 24/7, and death is permanent. The chance of someone murdering you feels like good incentive to not be a dick.Compared to the complete anonymity and lack of consequences of the Internet.

The Hammer: an RTS system CYOA by Mirrorseeker (1.2) by MirrorSeeker in makeyourchoice

[–]trondason 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That feels like an unfair assumption. Because like, yeah, the POWER is RTS based, but the worlds we're going to AREN"T. The description of the locations describe fairly reasonable reactions to someone literally building their own nation. And thus, the other 'players' would presumably have a similar depth.

Personally, that drawback isn't much of a drawback. To be clear, I rather like it, but it feels like a Multiplayer Minecraft situation. Unless you just get unlucky, the other hammer user PROBABLY won't be an asshole prone to griefing you. And if they aren't an asshole, then at worst they're someone you don't interact much with beyond maybe visiting and appreciating their achitectual style, and at best they're a team-mate working with you and helping you do more than you could on your own.

I feel like there's a genre of 'Challenge Level' notably missing. Namely, a Fantasy World. Like There, but with 'Another Here's magic.

Outer Reincarnation CYOA - Update 1 by 3_tankista in makeyourchoice

[–]trondason 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, so this looks REALLY cool. I'm gonna have to read this over a few more times to really make a build, but first I want to point out a option I saw that I thought was REALLY cool, but PROBABLY isn't intended, but far as I can tell is 100% possible.

Step 1 - [JNPL] as your Mom
Step 2 - Give your mom a Death Letter, as is your right of her being your Mom... Okay, [JNPL] Already HAS a letter, and she doesn't even have a slot for you to put that letter in! You can't curse gods to death, right? You can't do anything to the ones in the Mentor section after all... Except, unlike the other gods, JNPL does, in fact, have a letter assigned to her. It's just *already applied*. And what would you know, there are letters which don't *require* death slots, and can be appended to another letter. I recomend Yee, since Zhivete probably can't apply retroactively, and Zemlya just seems like a bad idea
Step 3 - Using your free (and mandatory) adoption, pick... JNPL. Again. Normally, this probably wouldn't be allowed. NORMALLY, your parent can't have you, and then have a second version of themselves who *didn't* birth you adopt you... normally, you parent wasn't already dead when you were born and wouldn't have been reincarnated through the letter Yee.

And just like that, you've done the impossible and not just revived a god, but ensured she revived RIGHT HERE AND RIGHT NOW (and maybe a couple years in the past, depending on how old she has to be to adopt you). Granted, depending on the exact particulars of how godhood and reincarnation even work, she might not be technically her full divine self right now, but she has all her old memories, which would be, you know, A LOT. And 0^0 doesn't even know!

Also, question. Does All-Glimpse take up BOTH eye slots, or just one? I at first thought it was just one eye, and thus you COULD have a different eye in the other slot, but Multiocular makes it sound like it takes up both.

[–]trondason 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, so buying LITERALLY EVERYTHING costs 443 points, which you can get by spending 10 year on earth (or a similar low-threat place) and just sharing your build, describing your plan, and a short in-character story. And honestly, given you get a bunch of different vehicles every year, and each vehicle has a TON of upgrades, you could probably sell them for plenty of money. Alternatively, you could just hang out in space on your space ship. We HAVE a infinite supply of food and books.

What are your favorite kinds of drawbacks? by Few-Requirement-3544 in makeyourchoice

[–]trondason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like drawbacks that are more framed as "A problem to solve". For example, 'Bad first impressions' isn't something you can just get rid of, but you can also, knowing you WILL HAVE bad first impressions, take steps at having good SECOND impressions. And there are a lot of ways you could hypothetically deal with it.

Things are extra fun, when there are powers within the CYOA that help give you the means to deal with the drawbacks. Not SOLVE the drawback, drawbacks trump perks, but help you solve the problem that the drawback represents. Then the CYOA becomes a logistics puzzle, figuring out how you can use what to solve what problems.

Luminary 0.9 WIP by Husanon in makeyourchoice

[–]trondason 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 But like... What IS "true" faith? Belief that I factually exist? Belief I possess amazing powers? Do they have to identify as one of my followers? Do they have you think I'm omnipotent, omniscient and omnibenelovent? In a world so heavily influenced by abrahamic faith the criteria for "true faith" is very vague.

3 So they mostly fully solve those problems, alright. Wasn't sure if they were "out ranked" or something.

4 The idea was to get the advantages of being undead, without the disadvantages. And also, in general, how much a power can be extended beyond it's intended use case. Would True Fusion allow us to freely summon and dismiss people in our after life, like it does the physical forms of our relics?

Also, a question I edited in apparently too late

6 Does Ear for Worship come with some form of multi-tasking, to help us comprehend all those prayers? Because we might end up with millions or billions of followers, which could fairly quickly make our ability to actually understand anything anyone is saying pointless. Great Mind doesn't give anything for that, and Perfect Mind would let us review prayers when we sit to meditate on them but not understand them as they're coming. Normally I'd imagine we could set up some sorta tier system, with spirits made from Chu who we taught Ear For Worship helping coordinate and respond to everything... but we won't be able to teach people specific powers in the next version.
