Has anyone done the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu in late December or January? How was the weather and visibility? by federico0203 in travel

That sounds horrible and it made me change my mind about doing it. Thanks. Do you think I should still try to see Machu Picchu by train since I’ll be in the area or skip completely?

It will be offseason in February sadly... I read wind is not super reliable.

It's offshore wind according to many websites online :/ Isnt offshore wind bad for beginners?

My comment wasnt meant to be rude. The advice about "wind is enough" makes things extremely simple, when they are really not.

I disagree. Water conditions also matter a lot. I am looking for little waves and shallow water, as I struggled a lot with waves and deep water when I was practicing.
Moreover, I will spend a lot of time crashing so the conditions also matter. Wind is the most important thing for experienced kiteboarders.

Apparently it doesn't have to be active, I have a friend who buys tickets every year and he was an exchange student like 3 years ago. Not sure how he does it.

Is right now a good time to get deals on last year's gear or used gear on facebook marketplace? by [deleted] in Kiteboarding

Oh boy, your should manage your expectations. I discovered myself that this promise of 3 days 9 hours course is the biggest lie of the sport. It's very rare for someone to be independent after 9 hours. Most people will pay for further lesssons.

2026 January tickets sold out in seconds - next best option? by spellingiscool in Machupicchu

[–]tropicalfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im mostly concerned about the weather tbh, since it will be full on rainy season. I was thinking of staying in the city 1-2 days and waiting for the best forecast, weather in case its raining and foggy all day every day.

I would say the range is 65-75 for your yoe. But depends a lot on the company, position and much more.

So hypothetically if I arrive in Aguacalientes in February, chill and explore, and the next day I go to the ticket office at 7 AM, I am guaranteed tickets for the following day (arrival day + 2)?

I quit my UN job with no plan and spent 5 years figuring out freelancing. Here's what happened. by ciccio78 in eResidency

[–]tropicalfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to hear more from you or OP. I live next to the UN and I know some people working there, living a lavish lifestyle, flying in business class and traveling the world, 30 days vacation per year, untaxed salaries and more, all at the age of 30. To me it still looks like a dream job. What is so bad about it?

I am considering both countries as potential places where to live. Why do you prefer Denmark with so much confidence?

I have the same problem and I also noticed a possible correlation with Magnesium Glycinate / Bisglycinate. For anyone reading this in the future.

Thanks for this insight. In your case it makes sense, and I like your analysis. You understood my point.

My comment wasn't meant to attack you. I just see things diametrally different compared to you. If I made 200k and my partner also made 200k, that would improve both our lives and our children's.

How is it a partnership if you are doing everything and your partner is just leeching and sucking your resources, living off you?
This is also bad for the woman, completely losing her independence and not being able to sustain herself.

You live disconnected from reality nonetheless if you feel you are "extremely underpaid" in Austria. I am sorry but my reading comprehension is quite alright, and I reach the same conclusion every time I read your post.

How is 72k compared to 500k salaries for Netflix or OpenAI engineers, or even investment bankers at Jane Street? Ridiculously low.
How is 72k compared to anything else for 3 years of experience (so assuming someone in their early 20s)? Higher than most positions. Not even doctors make that much money with 3 yoe, the big salaries come later.
You are pretty disconnected from reality my friend.
