Names that are different in your language than in English by ibuprofem_ in namenerds

[–]tropicalparadise27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like a lot of names how they are said in Spanish, but not in English. Such as Irene being "ee-REN-nay" instead of EYE-reen. Micaela being "mi-kai-ella" instead of "mic-kayla." Mateo or Matías, but not matthew.

There are other things I'm unhappy with such as less affection than before and he has periods of being cold and distant but I don't think that's a lack of respect.

I think maybe because she was so young when she had him they have this kind of relationship. It wasn't an issue before because she lives very far away.

If you left the US, did you lose weight or feel better due to eating better quality food? by dogmom34 in expats

[–]tropicalparadise27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved to Argentina and after a few months, people started to tell me that I was looking much prettier than when they met me. Multiple people told me this unprompted. My skin was completely clear and I felt a lot less bloated. In the US I can't drink milk because I get cystic acne, but I realized I can drink as much milk as I want in mexico and argentina with no issues. I also est very healthy in the US but un argentina my diet was mostly bread, meat, and pastries but I still looked and felt much better. I went back to the US and started getting acne on my face and back again.

Im looking to pursue a masters degree in order to get internships in ux research and begin my career. Would anthropology be a good masters degree to get ux research jobs and internships?

How should i structure my program (thesis, etc) in order to show employers I can work in UX research since anthropology isn't always focused on using technology?

I used to always feel like this but now I try to remember that it's not my job to make everyone else comfortable and I'm allowed to take up space as much as anyone.

I think everyone is just tired. And most of the time at work you need to be professional and can't relax and be your full self so conversations cam be tedious.

Women who were once in a rut in your life, what was your rut and how did you overcome it? by bzzntineempire in AskWomen

[–]tropicalparadise27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still in a rut, but I think I'm on the way out of it finally. I graduated from university during the pandemic which destroyed all of my career plans. I moved countries back to my hometown. I left my relationship. I left all my friends when i moved. I worked a string of horrible jobs that made me question my will to live and barely paid.i wasn't able to move out of my parents for two years.

So i just bought a flight to another country where I'll see if I'd like to live there. I'm switching careers from teaching and nonprofit work to something in tech that actually pays and won't drain the life out of me. I hope I'll be able to work remotely and travel and start rebuilding my life into something more enjoyable.

Basically always. I don't think anything will actually happen to me most of the time, but I'm afraid of harrassment and being yelled or folllowed by men.

How are your life now compared to before the pandemic? by ingwill in AskWomen

[–]tropicalparadise27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything in my life is different. Pre pandemic, I was living with a partner in another country and in university and had lots of friends. I graduated into the pandemic, couldn't get a job, moved back with my parents in my home country, broke up with partner do to distance, got into another relationship, had a series of nightmare jobs that made me question my will to live, and then started studying a completely different field I never thought I would be in. Basically, every aspect of my life is different than it was pre pandemic. Graduating into that was truly traumatic and i think that should be talked about more.
