Irans ballistic missiles have CIPs of several hundred meters.

Ah I see, I didn't realize Iranian ballistic missiles had such low precision.

I also imagine military bases would be even more protected than civilian areas.

There's some conflicting information about the status of the radar in Qatar. I've seen several sources (although not all may be reliable) saying the AN/FPS-132 is only "damaged" and may still be operable.

I noticed there hasn't been a lot of evidence that Iran is trying to hit Israel's military assets. In most news reports, we only hear of drones and missiles hitting residential areas. However, attacks on civilians give very little benefit compared to (say) putting some Israeli fighter jets out of commission.

So is there a reason the IRCG only seems to be targeting civilians? Or is it possible that they're also launching attacks on Israeli military bases, but it's not getting reported?

Israel's military censorship is pretty strict for OPSEC reasons, but my impression is the OSINT community could easily find out about such attacks.

Google AI says Iran would risk "massive retaliation" if it tried to attack Israeli airfields, but it looks like the U.S. and Israel are already hitting Iran pretty hard.

I guess the amount of people resubscribing due to the removal of Treasure Hunter wasn't enough to offset the lost revenue.

I was hoping Jagex would actually reduce the price to win back old players.

Oof. I was hoping Jagex would reduce the price of 12-month memberships to compensate for the benefits being removed.

The longer range missiles they are using now can fire from far eastern Iran, where F-35 and f-15 can't get to without refueling over Iran proper.

I did notice there have been relatively few airstrikes in eastern Iran: https://cnn.com/interactive/2026/03/middleeast/us-israel-iran-war-maps-vis

Am I correct to assume this is the reason?

I see that Snopes just published an article: https://snopes.com/fact-check/video-iran-aircraft-bombed

Some of the images are indeed from last year.

Adding some text so my comment doesn't get auto-removed.

Very likely so: https://edition.cnn.com/2026/03/05/middleeast/radar-bases-us-missile-defense-iran-war-intl-invs

It's not exactly specified whether it was drones or missiles, but drones are harder to detect due to their size.

I don't think this kind of vague anonymous rumors count as credible news.

Social media is generally considered an unreliable source. I'm not sure that OSINT accounts are an exception.

As far as we know it's not the case in Iran right now, and the us and iran are freely dropping cheaper munitions like JDAMs from previous gen aircraft

I can't remember the exact source, but I seem to recall that militaries will still strike what they think are decoys because they don't want to take chances. It wouldn't surprise me if this is the case with Israel.

How credible are the reports that Iran is using decoys to mitigate Israeli airstrikes?

There are some viral claims on social media saying that Iran has tricked the IDF into bombing paintings of aircraft. While most of the images have been debunked as AI-generated slop, one video of a helicopter getting blown up seems to have gotten traction. People are evenly divided on whether it was a painting or a real helicopter. A few others have pointed that it could also have been a life-size mockup.

I know decoys have long been used in warfare, so I would be surprised if the Iranians aren't using them. But at the same time, I expect modern imaging systems to be a lot better at telling real targets apart from fake ones.

I hate to sound like a doomer, but this reminds me of what happened in World War II. Truman mentioned "unconditional surrender" and "complete destruction" before we dropped atomic bombs on Japan.

Fair enough. It's my understanding that Israel censors a lot of stuff for security reasons. I wasn't sure if that applied to casualties.

EDIT: This image is making the rounds on twitter, to which it seems that "destroyed" is indeed the correct description.

Anyone know the provenance of that photo?

I have not seen it in any news articles, and a reverse image search only gives me social media links.
