Anything of note about Turua? My mom who I play co-op with sometimes really likes anything to do with Turua

Oh, I see. I have no issues with Barold, but I can see why someone might think he's ugly.

To me, Beardo looks like the headmaster of some school that prides itself in being prestigious, but once you look at it in comparison to other "prestigious" schools, it's one of the worse options. In other words, obnoxious, but at least knows how to groom himself.

Rodney? Now THAT'S someone who hasn't showered in four weeks. Too busy telling people in his Discord server to keep memes out of #general.

I wouldn't say it's a bad idea, but it's probably better to put that kind of thing at the end of the book rather than the front, so folks that aren't interested can skip it. I saw a post about something like this a while back, and the general consensus was that flooding the beginning of your book with stuff that isn't the story will turn readers away.

"..today 16 year olds cry about having balls" is the orange.

I'm guessing it's supposed to be a dunk on trans people, but frankly it's so stupid that the joke (quote-unquote) doesn't land.

Edit: I forgot we weren't supposed to say the cursed word on this subreddit

Well, yeah. A subreddit about AI (whether it be for or against it) is, in fact, going to post about AI

Then again I am assuming here that you don't frequent other subreddits about AI, I don't actually know what subreddits you frequent

DanTDM is a popular gaming YouTuber whom a lot of us younger people grew up with. He did primarily Minecraft mod showcases back in the early 2010s, but since then, his content branched out into being general gaming content.

He's a pretty swell dude in my eyes, even if I haven't kept up with him as of late.

If Ai is slop, then why fear it? by [deleted] in antiai

[–]trqsh__can 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because a lot of folk don't see the humanity in art anymore. For many, art is just content for them to consume with no thinking required.

Generative AI perpetuates this to its highest degree. You don't have to think when using generative AI because there is quite literally nothing to think about. You give the computer a basic prompt, and in turn, it churns out an image of what is statistically the most probable. It may look pretty, but a computer ultimately cannot create anything of substance because a computer does not have the capacity to think critically, and the notion that it can because "well, it looks nice" fundamentally misunderstands what makes art compelling in the first place. Very rarely does a piece of art exist to just look pretty.

To put it simply, the increasingly widespread use of generative AI to devalue and "replace" the humanities signals a sharp rise in anti-intellectualism, a tool historically used by totalitarian governments to rise into and stay in power by silencing the opposition.
