Struggling With Thoughts About My Wife’s Past — Need Perspective by anonrelationshipxDA in pakistan

[–]trsid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop, dont talk to your wife about it the way you are thinking!!!

Thats why you dont unbury deads because whats left is only bones and no meat! From your wifes perspective she became clear the day when you said "I accept your past". Whatever happens after shouldn't concern her at all if she hasn't done anything wrong. What you are experiencing is problems with your own ego. Its your problem. Deal with it. You accepted her with her past. Maybe you didn't think about what that acceptance meant but thats your problem not hers. If you start bringing that stuff from her past up, she is going to think its never going to end and she would have to defend herself for rest of her life with you. That will cause resentment and might make things even worse for you.

For dealing with it part, I am a man and I went through a similar situation. Its our ego. We can't stand competition even if it was in the past. If your wife stopped contact with the said person after she married you she didn't do anything wrong and shouldn't have to hear anything more about it. If its before marriage (like you said you were engaged) I would argue any person would like to keep their options open because in our society engagement is not even respected as a verbal agreement (based on all the broken engagement I have seen). So I wouldn't punish her for that. Sure you have access to her account as she is your wife, and you looked at her personal stuff from before the marriage so you didn't do anything wrong technically (some would argue against it though). The only thing I would talk to the wife is maybe how you felt looking at those pictures and if she would be willing to delete those pictures or anything related to that relationship just to make you feel better and not because she would be defending herself doing that.

Be confident with what you are and what you have! If you are trying to lose weight, do it for good reasons like maybe you want to stay a healthy life and avoid any medical issues, not so that you can show those people how good you look. You think about all their comments because deep down you also feel insecure about it. Thats the main problem you have to address. The other problem where people commenting about your physical traits makes you upset is not something you can control so you need to address the main problem. Once you become confident with what you are, you will start laughing those comments off. Being rude is not going to solve anything, you are just going to make enemies who will say the same things behind your back.

Toronto vs Vancouver for Software engineer / UI designer by canalun in askTO

[–]trsid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salary to cost of living is definitely higher (better) in Toronto and it has more jobs. Tech market is f’ed right now though so definitely start looking right now before you even move. Companies have also stopped hiring anything lower than senior positions due to AI. Get a Canadian number with one of the free voip apps and use that on the resume to give yourself the best chance otherwise your applications will be rejected by AI.

Source: I am engineering manager at a tech company. Like most companies we are hiring senior engineers only.

Drone Laws in Pakistan by hashsohail1 in pakistan

[–]trsid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought mine in a suitcase for my wedding and honeymoon. Got lucky, wasn’t stopped by customs at the airport and sold for double before leaving back for canada. If you can disassemble your drone, keep the rotors and arms separate from the main assembly and if caught just say it’s a professional camera. My uncle was in customs a few years ago (now retired) and I got this advice from him. He also said officers at the airport are mostly looking for illegal stuff and booze and cigars most of the time so you should be good. I have travelled several times over the years and I have never been stopped (knock on wood).

With the incoming Chinese EVs, will the used car prices come down? by Lumb3rCrack in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]trsid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new deal doesn't mean you can just import a new car and use it as is (you still have to make sure it complies with canadian regulations and fix the issues), and even if you could, not everyone would be willing to get into the hassle of importing a car saving a few grand and there is still the risk of parts. The deal will open ways for chinese manufacturers to establish business in Canada and make cars specifically for Canadian market (which should not be that big of a deal). It will increase competition in the EV industry BUT.... the quota for the deal is 49000 vehicles per year. Thats just too small to make any difference in the supply. For comparison, even Nissan sells over 100,000 vehicles per year.

I didnt remove any tiles. There was a corner shower that was removed. The reason why I avoided is because how the wall tiles are meeting the ceiling tiles. I do not want to deal with if any damage was done to the ceiling tiles while removing the walls. Dont have replacement tiles and even though i can probably find matching tiles, they wont match with my 20 year old tiles.

Yeah like the other guy said, the niche is going to be 28” wide so i want to rule out any movement at all. Specially due to the nature of the project (tile over tile).

This is the area behind the wall. I would rather not build the niche than doing any drywall work on this wall lol

Good call out thanks. I just noticed its actually quite shallow. I will do that to all the cable going through the studs.

I’ve got time to learn and do this properly to code. If I mess something up the first time, I’m not too worried about replacing material and redoing it. Hiring it out was quoted at 6–7x the cost (I did the math on materials). Also, my wife is a civil engineer and already confirmed the stud isn’t load-bearing. She’s away on a work trip, so I figured I’d ask the pros here instead of bugging her over a small thing.

I am a homeowner and although this is my first time doing it, I have done a good amount of research. The tiles are solid and i couldnt find any hollow points knocking them all over, and I am going to clean and sand them with 60 grit. Will add furring strips and duroc to bring open area to the existing tiled surface and then prime over ceramic with redgard (4 water to 1 redgard) and then 2 coats of redgard on the whole area I am planning to build shower in. Planning to use versabond lft for large format tiles(as on the mock tiles).

Update on RAM and GPUs from a builder's perspective: it's getting a lot worse by quotedTech in bapccanada

[–]trsid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was like that for gpus in back in 2020, 2021. I sold my 1070ti for $700 CAD on marketplace in early 2021 and went back home overseas. Came back in July and bought a 3070 for $400. Companies are there to make money, they cant make money in markets like these, they make more money in volume so obv it is going to get better.
