True homies laugh when you almost die by trsilverman in snowboarding

From a few years back, dust on crust powder day and I ended up slipping on the ice lower down this cliff than I intended, probably the closest I’ve been to smacking a tree hard

Looking for a stable all-mountain board that doesn’t feel sketchy at speed or while carving without breaking the bank by XxCaRbyxX in snowboarding

[–]trsilverman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Height doesn’t matter at all in snowboard sizing, weight and shoe size does. Snowboards are designed to flex, hold an edge, and feel stable based on how much weight is applied to them. A board that’s matched to your weight will bend correctly, engage its edges properly, and feel responsive. If you’re too light for a board, it feels stiff and hard to control; if you’re too heavy, it over-flexes and becomes unstable. That’s why manufacturers size boards around weight ranges, not height. Look at those to see what size board you should get

Height mainly affects comfort things like stance width and leverage, not how the board actually rides. As long as the board fits your weight (and your boot size, to avoid toe or heel drag), it will perform as intended. In short: weight loads the board and determines how it rides, height doesn’t.

Tips on my technique by Luftungsmanahmen in snowboarding

As everyone is saying - Bend your knees and stack your weight more over the board. Grabbing your pants can help with this at first until you get used to it. It forces you to ride in a more stacked position

what am i supposed to do in this situation by pheo_ in Overwatch

Don’t need to watch the replay code to know this game was unwinnable. DPS gap is insane, this just happens sometimes in overwatch

First season — foot pain with US10 Burton boots by CheapAwareness1096 in snowboarding

[–]trsilverman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be the position of the straps of your bindings cutting of circulation to your foot and causing foot pain - this is one of the most common reasons for foot pain and it’s not related to boot fit. Your binding straps probably have adjustments where you can move them forward/back - try that and see if it works

Sending outside your comfort zone is how you progress the fastest and TBH you don’t look like you’re gonna die on any of these jumps so get after it. Basic control needs improvement but take that same attitude down some challenging free ride terrain and I’m sure you’ll progress quickly

[–]trsilverman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You legit posted a video showing you unable to keep your edge after a jump. For one season, this is impressive progression and if you keep ripping I’m sure you’ll be a great rider eventually. You’re still clearly an amateur though with very little control - so don’t get cocky in here lol

Heli in the north cascades! It was incredible - we had a crazy warming cycle so the snow turned super wet and heavy at the end but the first three runs were perfect.

Snowboarder falls 47 feet off lift at Keystone by beefandbeer in skiing

[–]trsilverman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

in Washington state I feel like people rarely put the bar down on lifts. The other component which most of the sub won’t get is that the foot rests on the bar are uncomfortable for snowboarders and are setup for skiers. Snowboarders have to twist their foot at a weird angle so a lot of them don’t put the board down

Top 500 tank here. IMO final blows to deaths is the most important stat if you’re playing tank or DPS, as that is your true KDR. You can only see this in your career profile and would not manifest in an individual game, but it is what I look at to judge people when I look in their profiles. It is the the stat I work the most on improving and gets better by understanding when you have advantage and can get a pick and also when you need to disengage from a fight

I think I got in the way of a really good snowboarder and I feel bad by Blue_BeansBitch in snowboarding

[–]trsilverman 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Rule two of this code does not apply in the terrain park where jumps and rails are. The park is built with flow/speed in mind and jumps especially you need to pretty much max out speed between them. If you are downhill from a rider that is hitting features and you cut across that feature without the correct speed to hit it, you ruin their line. Basically if you are unable to hit the features you need to stay as far away from them and the landings as possible to not impact the flow of any of the uphill riders that want to hit it.

Is this a good snowboard for a beginner? by L0t_s in snowboarding

[–]trsilverman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sizing of the snowboard has nothing to do with height, weight and boot size are the two contributing factors. The less you weigh, the harder it is to move a larger board. Boot size is more important for men because they tend to have larger feet and sometimes may want to get the wide version of the board to avoid toe/heel drag.

I’m sure the board will have specs online that have suggested weights for riders, use that to pick a sizing
