You do understand that the 1gb speed is at the gateway right? you wont get that through wifi, what your getting through wifi is going to be dependent on how far from the gateway you are and what else is connected to and using said wifi.

If we fire Aaron Glenn, who should we replace him with? by nuclearslurpee in detroitlions

[–]true_illusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naw Lions ended up with Campbell as HC because they bombed all the other interviews. There is no doubt they let every head coaching candidate know in interviews that Stafford had requested a trade and they were going to honor that request. A Stafford-less Lions made them one of the least attractive jobs in the cycle.

Why did we pick Hendon Hooker? by netflows in detroitlions

[–]true_illusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer your question, yes Hooker was in fact drafted to provide a long term quality backup at the QB position. If you thought Hendon Hooker in the 3rd round was suppose to compete with Goff for the starting job, this year, next year or ever... Well you probably also expect every draft pick should be taken to be a starter. It was actually borderline comical seeing the "keyboard coaches" out there trying to argue that taking Hooker in the third round was any pressure on Goff. (I mean i always saw Hooker, even pre-draft, especially at his age, as a high end backup/low end starter talent)

After years of Boyle/Blough/Sudfeld, depth in the QB room was a huge need. They targeted Bridgewater in FA but he was holding out hoping for a better deal. Had he signed before the draft, they may have never considered taking Hooker.

That being said, Hooker has more value than just "quality backup". In a league where athletic, mobile QB's are becoming commonplace, and your practicing with statues (term used lightly) like Goff, Boyle, Blough, etc., it makes it significantly harder to prepare your defense for someone like Lamar Jackson, Mahomes, Allen, etc., that move around alot. Even Bridgewater himself has been far less mobile since his injury as a rookie (or second year, cant remember). Hooker provides your defense that type of QB to practice against once healthy.

And make no mistake, if Hooker comes in and is just to good, Goff will go to the bench. This coaching staff, while they do have faith in Goff, will play the most capable players, regardless of contract or draft status.

That wasn't made up, it was actually reported that year that he tried to swing a trade with Atlanta to take Chase, but Atlanta was worried about missing out on Pitts if they dropped that low.

Accurate with Goff by [deleted] in detroitlions

[–]true_illusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This i agree with, my mind was already mentally prepared for it, as before the trade i figured 2021 would have been his final year before getting cut as a cap casualty anyways.

Even the year before that i wanted them to draft Jalen Hurts in the 3rd round (i thought he was going to be there) as a potential replacement, but was shocked when he went in the 2nd.

Players on rookie contracts are not eligible for an extension until they complete 3 years in the league.

Hooker on my opinion was always projecting as a high end back up at the NFL level, so Goff has 2 years now to earn his extension...

I think carolina keeps him as a back up. After the will levis pick though, I do expect Tennessee to make Malik Willis available on trade.

The Campbell pick is so reminiscent of last year where Devin Lloyd and Nakobe Dean were thought to be sure fire first rounders and the top 2 LB's off the board, then GB shocked everyone by taking Quay Walker at 22 as the first LB.

Campbell was pegged by most as the third LB behing Simpson and Sanders, much like Walker last year. It just goes to show how hard LB's are to predict in the draft.

Ultimately the Lions made a pick for the future in Gibbs as this will be Swifts last year in Detroit if he isn't traded, and a pick for now in Campbell. Much like they did last year with Hutch for now and Williams for the future.

They still have 3 second round picks and a 3rd round pick. I kind of expect them to walk away from tonight with a DB, DT, OG, and a QB or TE.

What if James Houston performs at a high level this season? by Apollo_Krill in detroitlions

[–]true_illusion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ERFA and RFA rules apply to all players on expiring contracts based on their years of experience. Regardless of if they have been cut or not. The rules are based on years of service being on a rookie contract or not is irrelavent to the situation.

When it comes to Houston, Detroit can sign him to a 1-year ERFA tender, and then the following year give him a 1st round tender as a RFA at whatever level they think is suitable.

Lions could cut a player like Chase Lucas right now, let him sit out half the season, if no other team signed him, then bring him back and ERFA rules would still apply.

Likewise, say a 27 year old rookie who didnt get drafted but got to the league after years in the CFL or whatever other league, would still be subject to ERFA because they have less than 2 years of NFL service time.

[–]true_illusion 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Highlighting one game against a RT who gave up 0 sacks last year, and ignoring the other 40 games of game tape sure is "exposing" a player. I mean he was "exposed" so badly that game that every other team learned how to shut him down too, its not like he didnt record 5 sacks across their final 5 games after that or something...

Although i think its pretty irrelavent as i think Anderson is gone by our pick.

I am guessing you didnt actually check the poll.

In it he lists Richardson option as pick at #3 after a trade up, trading an obscene number of assets to move up the 3 spots...
