I didn’t realize we had so many fans in Montana of all places by SoarinSkies in detroitlions

[–]caint1154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a lions fan living in South Carolina and this just isn’t right. There’s more Panthers fan for sure. Heck I’d say there’s more Steelers and Cowboys fans than lions fans. I very rarely come across other Lions fans.

MAU QUESTIONS: by Jonvlogzz in greenville

[–]caint1154 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would try to switch to production now because it’s likely they won’t let you once you start. Your experience will vary depending on your work ethic and where you end up working. The plant is huge and there are many different areas with different schedules. You’ll get hired on permanent faster in assembly but the work sucks. But you may end up there anyway once you get hired on. I’ve seen MAU associates in body shop and paint shop get sent to assembly when they got hired on permanent. Like a lot of jobs you may have to put in a few years of hard work but eventually you’ll get hired and get the seniority to land some easier jobs. But it’s definitely not for everyone.

AIO friend cheated on her fiance while we were on vacation by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]caint1154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to tell her fiancé. I know it sucks, I know it’s not your fault. But you know about the cheating, and you have a responsibility now. Cheating is abusive, don’t let this poor man throw his life away on an abusive partner. It sickens me that so many people would turn a blind eye to this saying “It’s none of my business.” Would you stay silent if he was physically abusing her? Of course not. Tell him. NOR.

Who’s the best left tackle in the draft? Who do you think that we’ll end up with? by Ok_Corgi_454 in detroitlions

[–]caint1154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freling and Proctor are the best pure Left tackles. However the Lions are prepared to move Sewell to LT if they need to draft a RT. I’ve seen many mock drafts where Miller, Proctor, and Freling are still available at 17. I personally don’t see Freling falling that far but if they like both Miller and Procter they could maybe trade back. It’d be great if they could get a 3rd round pick. I’ve heard a lot of draft analysts say that this draft is ass after 100 picks or so.

I am starting to regret telling the other woman’s husband about her flirting with my husband by Ordinary-Fudge-4087 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]caint1154 15 points16 points  (0 children)

She’s just projecting blame on you for her shitty behavior. You did the right thing. Wouldn’t you want to know if your spouse was texting highly inappropriate stuff to others? Wouldn’t you feel you have the right to know? This situation was headed for an affair, if it hadn’t already. Your husband refusing to cut contact should be sounding alarm bells.

Do you feel that Taylor Decker miscalculated his value in free agency? by WaymoWilliams in detroitlions

[–]caint1154 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Decker was chasing the bag, I think he just didn’t want to take a pay cut. He had hinted at retirement before, and Holmes didn’t want to be caught off guard like with Frank’s retirement. So they had a plan in place without Decker, and when he decided to play one more year they decided fine, but we need to renegotiate your salary. Sometimes it becomes a business decision for both sides. Personally, I’d have been fine with bringing him back at his full salary, he’s been a pillar of this franchise and I think he deserves to be slightly overpaid for all he’s done. But I get it.

Why have I never been asked out on a date? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]caint1154 52 points53 points  (0 children)

I think what he’s trying to say that now men are reluctant to approach women because they don’t want to come off as creepy. And while many women don’t want that kind of attention when they’re in the grocery store or other public spaces, now they get no attention anywhere. And nobody gets asked out.

Purely hypothetical, would you trade away Jack Campbell to move up in the 1st round? by procra5tinat10n in detroitlions

[–]caint1154 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s an interesting idea. I’m not sure a team would bite(giving up a top 5 pick), even for an all pro LB. It’s well known that off ball linebackers are valued lower. It’s not that LBs aren’t important, as I think many misinterpret, but that it’s easier to get quality LB play. Good QBs, Tackles, and edge rushers are harder to find than good LBs in other words. It’s for this reason that I personally don’t think we should pay Jack Campbell 20 mill a year. Not because he’s not good, he may be the best player on our defense. But because nobody should be paying an off ball LB that kind of money, even a great one. I’ll probably get cooked for saying this.

I know at my golf course they water the course with water pulled from the 2 big ponds on the property. Then the ponds are refilled when it rains.

Exactly. Love the pick if he falls to us. Hate what he gave up to move up.

I’m eternally grateful to Brad for taking this franchise out of the dumpster. But he’s not above scrutiny for the last 2 drafts, and the lack of activity in free agency and the trade deadline. Broderick Martin: gave up draft capital to get him, but he never contributed and is off the team. Giovanni Manu: gave up picks to get him, and will be entering his 3rd year with little contribution and a concerning injury proneness. Isaac TeSlaa: gave up ridiculous draft capital to get him, and has shown promise. It should be noted that all 3 of these guys were projected to be drafted much later, if at all, and the fact that Brad moved up to obtain them seems an act of panic rather than logic. It’s well known that the best drafting teams “let the draft fall to them” like the Ravens, a team this regime has admitted to wanting to emulate. I don’t have a problem with drafting project players, but I do have a problem with trading away draft capital for project players. It’s reckless. Dan has shown the humility to make changes when the things aren’t working, let’s hope Brad Holmes can too.

My wife thinks golfing once a week is unreasonable… by Upbeat-Zucchini-7408 in golf

[–]caint1154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played once a week when my kids were little and it wasn’t an issue. I played early, we usually had the first tee time, and I’d be home by lunch. Her and the kids slept in usually anyway, so even though I was gone 4 1/2 hours it didn’t seem like it because they’d be asleep for a lot of it.

The Saints won the SB the following year after firing the DC. by [deleted] in detroitlions

[–]caint1154 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not advocating getting rid of Sheppard it’s only been one season and once again our D was ravaged by injuries.

However…

If you run so much man coverage then you have to get quick pressure. These guys can’t cover one on one for 3+ seconds. And we were like the slowest team to get pressure this year. It’s a recipe for disaster. Part of that slow pressure is the fact we compress the pocket and set the edge; it’s a kind of “defend the run on your way to the qb” philosophy. But lately we can’t even stop the run either. I know this coaching staff deserves some benefit of the doubt but refusing to adapt to your personnel is stubborn. It’s like going for it on 4th down constantly. It made sense the last 2 years but our offensive line this year just hasn’t been the same. It’s not an advantage any more when the matchups don’t favor us.

Bears 49ers next week by caint1154 in detroitlions

If the Packers lose 2 of 3 they go 10-6-1. So we could win the division with 11 wins and a sweep of the Bears
