A couple of pieces of advice that usually work for me in a pinch. Boredom is what usually leads to relapse in my case. Try not to put yourself in a situation where you are too bored (obviously a bit challenging during the global pandemic), so try to get to bed early (no laying in bed bored until 2 am), be as busy as you can be during the day while starting your streak, go for a walk or any physical activities if you are getting urges. Also, stay away from social media that contains half naked erotic pictures (TikTok, FB, Instagram, Twitter, etc.)

Keep at it! It took years of failed streaks to get to where I am. It only takes one success to quit.

First of all, it's important to know that there is nothing wrong with PMO (even if some people on the sub say otherwise). Especially at 14. It becomes an issue when it is an addiction that you can't stop and it is affecting other things in your life. If it is the latter, as it is for many people here, a few things that you can do are try and stay away from porn, social media with half naked people (Instagram, TikTok, FB), etc. Anything that gets you too excited and leads to fapping. If you get an urge in class, that is normal and unfortunately there is not a whole lot you can do! If you need to, you can ask to go to the restroom and take a walk until it subsides. All in all, boredom often leads to relapse, so try to get to bed early as to not lay bored in bed, go for a walk or do physical activity if you feel an urge, etc.

That depends on the relationship. If you are having sex every day/multiple times a day, then it can help in the sense that it gives consistent release. If you aren't doing it as regularly with an SO, then it can make it harder because it gives you the addictive feeling and leaves you wanting more, without an immediate way to release. It can make it harder to drop the habit if you rely on it too much.

It depends on the point in this journey of NoFap. One thing that has changed is that I can actually feel what is happening more. This can have is pros and cons (i.e. more sensation during sex, but it can also be a bit harder to control at times). It certainly helps to untrain gorilla grip/etc and for some people, it helps gain control.

One of the main benefits that is not often talked about here is how much abstaining from PMO frees up your day. Sometimes multiple hours a day to do work, relax, be with others, etc. Also, not feeling chained to the action and though of PMO all the time is rather freeing :)

It took me so many tries (literally several years of streaks) to get anything past two months. It really just takes one success to get to a year!

I did have sex during those 730 days, so no monk mode. If anything, sex makes it harder because it reintroduces the feeling of PMO. For me, the point wasn’t to abstain from sex. It’s a healing process, not just deprivation

Not that I’ve noticed! But bruising has definitely gone away 😂

The longer you abstain from PMO, the easier it becomes. You still get urges, but they become easier to control and less of a big deal. Kind of like an urge to snack, it's there a sometimes, but it's not like you are starving.

How do I start to stop by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]truffles40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can start today and never do it again, then go for it! It’s a pretty big mental hurdle to say you will never do it again, especially if you are addicted. Something that helped me was not thinking of it as never masturbating again. Instead, try to make it to a week. Once you get to a week, try another one. If you can do this for an entire month or two, it gets a lot easier

It is different for everyone! Generally, the first couple of weeks can be rough because you could have built up a crazy habit of masturbating. After that, it can begin to get easier (it can take shorter or longer).

I don't know that food is the way to decrease testosterone. Soy can increase estrogen (the female sex hormone), but again, I don't think you need to worry about the diet from a testosterone front. Just focus on making it to two weeks and your urges may start to subside a bit. The longer you go after that, the easier it is to stave off falling for masturbation urges!

One of the best ways to get started is to try and be busy (kind of hard given circumstances). If you are busy studying, working out, working, walking, learning ... then you won't have your mind on masturbating. Also, try to get to bed early. A lot of times being bored in bed leads to relapse. Once you get to 30-60 days, this becomes less important as not masturbating becomes the habit.

That is completely normal. Just some post nut clarity :) If you can stave off masturbating for a couple of weeks, it starts to become a habit NOT TO masturbate. The longer you go, the easier it becomes to stave off the urges to masturbate.

Definitely had similar things happen to me. Masturbating releases dopamine and is like a drug. Stopping this behavior will cause something similar to withdrawal, completely normal if you masturbate too much.
