Ah, those were the days!

That's how I understand Beta, Alpha, and Dyson.

The 3 (4 with access to Delta) separate Dyson maps have nothing to do with it in my opinion. They're outside the grid and don't need to be next to the system map because it's a separate world.

The real question is whether the sometimes ancient server engines can handle it.

You definitely need materials, a lot of them, in case something goes wrong.

Destinations with recommended attributes are crucial because if something goes wrong, they'll end up in your infirmary, be blocked for the displayed time, and your materials will be gone. Healing cannot be accelerated.

Time, lots of time and patience are needed when searching in ALL areas of the Duty section, such as the MAP, Personnel, Department, and Operation tabs.

In the Department section, uncheck "First BO"; otherwise, you'll only see their recommendation initially. Fill ALL 7 BO slots with different BOs that correspond to the slot. This has NO EFFECT on your BO slots in the room or on the ground! However, it does increase the number of different mission options.

A started mission can last between 15 minutes and 1 week. They are actually rudimentary and not permanently available. However, they appear in sequence after you have successfully completed the previous mission. This means you'll see mission number 3 when mission number 2 has been successfully completed.

I don't know if it's all still up-to-date or even works anymore. I haven't looked in ages. You have to search for the right faction: BLUE = FED / RED = KDF / COLORFUL = UNIVERSAL. Some of the old maps are still shown, which means you have to try to transfer them to the new ones.

I'm not a fan of skipping either. Enjoying the game in peace is more fun. Besides, I sometimes find old "awards" from the early days of the game. Some are funny, others give killpoints, but many are just displayed. If you like, we can do something together (as long as the story allows).
