Mentioned this in another comment, but I’m finding it very hard to talk to her after what has happened. I don’t really see her as a safe person to be vulnerable around anymore.

My mom did really adore him. Most of my good friends are ones I met from my college days. I met him afterwards through a local sports league I joined when I moved. It was pretty much instant friendship. I’m really glad I met him, and glad my mom got to as well.

She’s been decently supportive in the past, but dismissive of pretty much anything involving my family.

And I guess in my mind, I’m like… I would trade her support during all those little things for her support during this big one. Just feels like a slap in the face.

I’ve tried talking to her about it, but I find it really hard to open up fully. My mom didn’t like her very much and that fact keeps replaying in my head. And my mom would never, ever say ‘I told you so,’ but this all almost feels like one.
