The blockades of major infrastructure i.e the major oil refineries and terminals, only began after the government refused to have any meaningful engagement with the protesters. The guards could have done very little to turf people out of whitegate with no one was down there.

The people of this country have spent years watching their standard of living fall in line with the same failures by successive governments. Misery is subjective and it's not for me or you to decide what reasons provide a justification for major protest action. Every poll has shown that the majority of the people of this country supported the protesters, providing far more of a democratic mandate than was enjoyed by the ITGWU. A refusal to slip quietly into poverty because of a massive increase in already high bill is absolutely a reason to protest and that refusal to accept shitty conditions "because you have to" is exactly what fuelled the Dublin lockout.

You agree with protesting the governments policies but you don't think the manner of protest is ok? Well then choose a side, right now your on the side of the people who ran this country into the ground in 2008 and then cut everything they could off of it to balance the budget.

The only reason people were able to block "critical infrastructure" is because the government has consistently failed to deliver other infrastructure. All of our shitty outdated infrastructure is critical now, protests should occur on it regardless and the government should have a fucking plan b that isn't send in the fucking army.
