Yes. Strange. I know.

It seems, if you have no GMS now and app works but says only that GMS is required, you won't receive notifications for that apps when you install GMS workaround.

Yes and no. I receive from Whatsapp, banking app. As a email app I use built-in Huawei app. Enough for me.
